The need for boredom

This movie has been on the hard drive, and I was a little scared to watch it, because I knew it was "boring", but after finally plucking up the courage to watch it, I felt fortunate for myself.

In fact, the movie only tells a story about an extremely ordinary extramarital affair. If you let Hollywood make it, it would be a bad movie, because Hollywood can't be bored. And this piece has to be stuffy, it can't be so beautiful if it's not stuffy.

I can’t stand boring movies slowly, or I’ve never been able to stand boring movies, because the way I spend time has been “post-modernized”, or Hollywoodized (maybe Feng Xiaogang’s), which is Say that my time can be edited, not to mention the magnificent waves, but also the ups and downs. I can do this by constantly refreshing the screen, listening to music while walking, watching videos while riding in the car, and switching between different worlds. But this is not the only way to pass time. The way Hollywood and postmodern see the world is not the only way.

Extramarital affairs are too common, and what makes it unusual is the way you look at it.

This story takes place in a traditional Mexican village that believes in religion, because this is a world surrounded by birdsong and sunshine everywhere, a world with God, and the way time passes in this world is of course different from ours.

There is always silent time ticking around here, time that can’t get rid of, no jumping, only time from one second to the next. In the "Hollywood Era and Multithreaded Task Era", we jumped with neglect, with diverted attention, and with paralyzed ourselves. Therefore, we lost this second of time and all other time. Will your cry stop abruptly? Isn't embarrassment embarrassing because it makes time seem long? And all of this presented on the screen will make the audience feel bored.

Without the texture of this time, pain does not appear to be so painful, and happiness does not appear to be so happy.

For the "post-modern" me, what surprised me about this extramarital affair story is that all people face the truth directly. Men tell their wives the truth for the first time, and they never lie and cover up when going on a date with a lover. He frankly said to his wife, father, and friends: I don't know what's going on, but I think this is what I want. He was deeply suffering and equally deeply happy.

And there is not much hatred between rivals, lover Marianna said: Poor Esther; wife Esther said: Poor Marianna.

Then the special part of this story has slowly evolved into a fairy tale. Each of them is full of compassion and bears his own pain, which makes miracles happen, which is similar to a miracle. Not to mention the end, the spoiler is too cruel-it is a gift.

The most beautiful thing about this movie is that it only seems to happen between sunrise and sunset. The director almost let us watch a sunrise at the beginning of the film and a sunset at the end of the film in a way that there is almost no editing and no leakage of a second. At the beginning of the film, it was so boring that I couldn't bear it, but when I watched the sunset at the end of the film, I already admired it to the point that I had nothing to say. I seem to be able to feel the "moral law in the heart and the starry sky above the head" in the story.

It is inevitable that a large number of long lenses and long-distance lenses make the movie dull. But if this is not a story carried by the vast sky and silent earth, can it still be a story that may be sublimated and transcended?

Is this the real world? I suddenly understood that this is the world in the director's mind, and it is the time in his heart that ticks around in the movie.

More important than reality is the way of looking at reality. In movies, it is the way of presenting reality. Because life can only come up with one correct answer based on physical chemistry, life is really not worth living. The significance of this movie is that it presents another answer, another way of facing, maybe another way of time passing. This is the need for it to be bored.

In this world, everyone does not share a kind of time. In addition to the external time, there is also the inner psychological time. Drinking a Coke and holding popcorn, spend 80 yuan to buy a happy person’s psychological time, and make the sunset with the sunrise. However, the time in the heart of people who are always thinking about God in their hearts cannot be the same kind of time. But feeling a different time and a different way of looking at life can bring enlightenment and even salvation. This is the need for it to be bored.

The picture showing the natural scenery is really "simple and magnificent", but it is too boring

The picture is very ambitious, and I enjoy watching it with a large projection. But the overly delicate images do not fit the core of the film.
