The man on the train, the soul on the journey——Comment on the movie "The Man on the Train"

The fate of two irrelevant men met three days before the end of their lives.
One is a retired teacher who lives in a small town and an old man who stays alone in his empty house.
One is a robber who just got off the train and tried to rob the bank.
They have almost nothing in common, and seem to be very different in every respect.
One is eloquent, the other is taciturn.
One who is tired of the ordinary life and wants to find excitement. When he finally plucked up the courage and got up to stop the noisy billiard macho in the bar, he returned in vain. The other party immediately stopped and treated him respectfully. It turned out to be his former student.
One wants to end his wandering life, settle down, and live a normal life. But when he put on slippers for the first time in his life, he couldn't even go.
When the two people met, they were not strangers, but frankly and cherish each other.
The robber asked the teacher for a poem.
The teacher asked the robbers about marksmanship. Even when he learned that the robber was about to rob the bank the next day, the teacher said: "If something is not for tomorrow, I really want to help you." It
can be seen that they have nothing in common.
None of them feel safe. It's just a different form. Teachers always prepare double toothbrushes and toothpaste for themselves. Who knows which day will be used up? The robbers always remain vigilant, and almost abandon the plan because of the blessing of their accomplices, and are very wary of the newcomers.
They actually have some similarities.
They are all considered smart.
They all lead a life they don't want to live.
Even, they died on the same day. One died on the operating table. One died under the gun of a policeman.
But the story does not end there. The best part of the movie has just begun.
The two unwilling souls got up at the same time. The retired teacher got on the train and embarked on the journey he had longed for for a long time, while the robber sat at the piano and played Schumann.

Everyone has such a moment, hoping that he is not himself, but another person, living elsewhere.
Everyone is a man on the train. Everyone is the soul on the journey. We all wander around the world with unsatisfied longings until our souls finally return home.
When the bakery owner asked, "Do you want anything else?"
We can really say, "No, thank you."

Man on the Train quotes

  • Milan: One guy can't take two on, except in the movies.

  • Monsieur Manesquier: [after an abortive confrontation] I suppose my time hasn't come.

    Milan: That took guts.

Monsieur Manesquier: I try picking a fight and find someone who likes me.

Milan: You'd have preferred broken bottles?

Monsieur Manesquier: [shrugs] It would have been something to remember.
