Transposition of Good and Evil: "Control"

From a technical point of view, this film is very general, the film is old, the details are numerous, and the lens editing is not precise enough. But what this film, which uses drug trials as an entry point, expresses far exceeds the scope of commercial films. Regarding the good and evil of human nature, about introspection, and about self-salvation, the film does not seem to set any suspense, but in the trivial life of the protagonist, people slowly discover the kindness and warmth of human nature.

The protagonist seems to be criminal and violent, but in fact Wen Chun is honest; on the contrary, the doctor in the film has a high status but commits the mistakes often made by people with high status; the pharmaceutical factory develops new drugs that should be used to save people, but their behavior is harmful. Those at the bottom of society have love, but those at the top are hypocritical and ruthless. The transposition of humanity's good and evil is the biggest suspense of this film.

The originality of the story is pretty good.

Warden: In the power of the state I am hereby authorized put you, Lee Ray Oliver, to death by lethal injection. Is there anything you'd like to say?

Lee Ray Oliver: Fuck you! Fuck every last one of you!

  • Lee Ray Oliver: [laughing about his fate] I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy.
