An in-depth interpretation of the first Hollywood pseudo-documentary film introduced from the mainland

I came here especially, just like the title, the pseudo-documentary "Phoenix Forgotten" was introduced to the mainland as a batch film (buy-out film). Today, I went to the theater to do it for the second time. I read the resources on the Internet in April before, and it feels normal, but this time I went to the theater to try it out with the mentality of experiencing it. Before that, mainland cinemas had never had such a fresh sense of experience.

As a fan of pseudo-documentaries, I can confidently say that I have more say than the average person. Speaking of pseudo-documentaries is undoubtedly unfamiliar to fans in mainland China. In fact, I remember that 8 years ago, a movie called "31° North Latitude Videotape" was released in China. As the name suggests, this film is a pseudo-documentary, and it was made by China itself! It is a pity that the production is too rough, the cost is seriously insufficient, and the lack of luxury casts has caused the film to not make any waves.

Today, the shooting techniques of pseudo-documentaries can be said to be more and more familiar to the audience. Speaking from the beginning, it was the so-called "Blair the Witch", the originator of the mountain. Then, it derives the series such as "Smart: Ghost Record" series, "The Mortuary Haunted Incident", "Death Video" series, "Colover Archives", " "Fatal Videotape" series, "Diatrof", "Chernobyl Diaries", "Catacombs of Paris", "Kunchi Rock" and various exciting masterpieces, and then to today's "Unfriend", "The Lair" is a precedent computer-recorded new pseudo-recording method, "Pop-up Cry", "Screen Search", "Net Lure Cry", "Unfriend 2: Dark Web", none of which is not a small blog. A pseudo-documentary movie that won a good box office record.

However, in terms of word of mouth, pseudo-documentaries have always maintained a mixed state of praise and criticism. This film is no exception. Just like another buddy said, audiences who like pseudo-documentary forms and UFO supernatural themes may be more integrated into this movie, and similarly, audiences who don't catch a cold of this type seem to have no interest.

In fact, the introduction of the film by SVA also considered many aspects, as shown in the figure, such as: Mr. Lei Ridley Scott as the producer, can be said to be quality assurance, (so you will see a pigeon animation at the beginning of the film, and then show Scott Free, This is exactly the famous Scott's studio). However, his name was not mentioned at all in the posters and promotional videos. Pseudo-documentaries are unfamiliar to mainland audiences x2... (but I believe that after the Internet celebrity hit "Kunchi Rock", you will not be unfamiliar anymore)

Next, let's talk about this movie in depth.

At the beginning of the film, the theme is tightly bound. As a fan of UFOs and aliens, you must not be unfamiliar with Phoenix Lights. This is the giant UFO incident of the "Phoenix Lights Group" in Arizona, USA in 1997. At that time, residents of Phoenix noticed that a giant triangular luminous UFO appeared in the night sky. Its area was so large that it covered the stars in the sky, and it flew silently in the sky for several hours and disappeared quietly. Today, officials have insisted on explaining the reason for the flash bomb fired by the military, but the former Governor of Arizona Simington has publicly disclosed that it is a real UFO.

The above are some simulated photos and real photos

In fact, in May, June and August 2005, August 2006 and April 2008, the "Phoenix Light Group" repeatedly appeared in Phoenix. But the truth is always confusing.

Following such a story, the protagonists—three hapless children, resolutely embarked on a journey of finding UFOs. Unexpectedly, this became their last journey. The three eventually disappeared in the desert.

The storytellers are divided into three factions, 1. Witnesses 2. Ashley and the parents of the other two children 3. Ashley’s sister (The Dominator)

In this way, in order to find her sister, and to give her parents an explanation, her sister also resolutely embarked on the hard way to find relatives. At home, she asked her mother for a videotape of her sister's daily life in an attempt to find clues.

(Like many pseudo-documentaries, here is also a method of playing videotapes, the purpose is to make people more immersive)

As the video tape enters the DV machine, a blurry picture is connected, and Ashley's childhood images are presented in front of her eyes. However, the appearance of Phoenix Lights immediately afterwards made Ashley and her forge a bondage.

The movie vividly restores the entire process of the Phoenix UFO incident that year

In the middle section, apart from Ashley's sister's search process, three other children gradually disappeared.

The night scenes from the middle to the second half adopt the style of conventional DV night vision devices, which makes the picture look cold and creepy

Another attractive point in the film is also the climax of the whole film. It is the wheel of Ezekiel mentioned in the "Bible". It is indeed a film produced by Mr. Lei. It always likes to have some religious atmosphere under the color of science fiction.

The image of the wheel of Ezekiel in the "Bible" has a strong religious and philosophical meaning.

⬆️❗️Attention (fanwai): This Ezekiel wheel-shaped UFO has also appeared in reality, and more than once! ! !

First time: The following picture was taken by NASA on the space station in the late 1980s or early 1990s, showing the shape of this UFO.

Mimic diagram

This UFO is like the wheel of Ezekiel, the two wheels are combined, but the object is estimated to be about 50,000-60,000 kilometers away from the earth, and it is very huge! However, it is not difficult to see from the photo station that it is not an extraterrestrial flying object inside the earth. Perhaps this flying object should be a probe, like the Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 in the 1960s and 1970s in the United States!

However, some NASA staff felt that the origin of the object was unknown, and felt a little bad foreboding! It's like the Black Knight spacecraft that has been around for 130,000 years, but this unknown probe stayed around the earth for more than a year, and then disappeared in unknown circumstances.

The second time, the wheel of Ezekiel captured by Norwegian surveillance on April 2, 2015, the video link: http://compaign.tudou.com/v/XMTc5MzA1NTE5Ng==.html?from=1081293010&wm=3333_2001&weiboauthoruid=2534340304

After reading it, does it feel terrifying and shocking? Aliens must exist, and they are all around us.

------This book saves 10,000 words about the topic I want to talk about UFO aliens------

Going back to this film again, the sci-fi pseudo-documentary "Phoenix Forgotten" with mysterious real events, if I were to give a comment, I think 3 stars is the most relevant (out of 5 stars). First of all, as a pseudo-documentary, it is qualified. It is not easy to create a movie based on true event under the pressure of a small cost, and to capture the audience's attention with 5 (or 6) UFO clips from the beginning to the end in 80 minutes. Secondly, in terms of the expansion of the meaning of the film, the film has achieved a style of mixing religion, philosophy and reality. For example, the inexplicable disappearance of three people at the end, the weird behavior of the three people with nosebleeds and calling their relatives, the progress of the search event has been clueless. Even if I had to give up, and the truth was still confusing, it left room for the audience to imagine and fill in the blanks. Of course, as a pseudo-documentary that can only take Samsung, or more than 60 points, its shortcomings are certainly prominent. For example, the climax is unevenly distributed and short-lived, and the special effects shots and scare elements are less, which also makes this film a commercial failure.

But having said that, no matter how you say it, this film gave Chinese audiences a new understanding of the pseudo-documentary, and also allowed us to understand the lingering mysterious incident more thoroughly and concretely. I hope to see you in the mainland theaters in the future. To more pseudo-record masterpieces, Salute!
