But if watching this film just focus on these two scenes, I want to tell you with regret that you just missed what this movie wanted to tell you the most, provided that you are a man.
This is the most "man" movie I have ever seen, and I still don't think any woman can really understand the meaning of the film. The whole film tells the story of two men, the story of two men choosing between love and friendship, responsibility and emotion:
Neil Macaulay, a very intelligent and principled robber Boss. After the weather-beaten, I finally met the woman he truly loved, so I wanted to end my long and dangerous criminal career and be the last vote.
Vincent Hanna, an excellent police detective who has a grumpy temper and has been busy with work for many years, leading to the breakdown of his family. When he was about to reorganize the family with his single mother again, he met Neil, a well-matched opponent.
Neil's last action failed due to the betrayal of his men who had been kicked out of the team before, and several brothers who had followed him for many years died and were wounded. Neil could have chosen to fly away with his beloved woman, but in order to avenge his dead brother, he chose to take up his responsibilities and finally moved towards a fateful showdown with Vincent.
I often think about how smoothly he would go with his girlfriend if he didn’t notify Neil of the traitor’s address in the end, but even so, if Neil learns the traitor’s whereabouts in the future, even if he’s early Even if he stays away from the rivers and lakes, or has a happy family, he will definitely go back and perform his duties for many years.
The three most important things in a man's life: principles, feelings and responsibilities are vividly reflected in this film. In order to fulfill his duties as a police officer, Vincent hurt his family; because of his sorrowful friendship with Neal, he was involved in the duty of being a policeman; he eventually killed Neil himself because of the principle of being a policeman. Neil even led to the betrayal of the traitor because of his own principles. In the end, he gave up his hard-won love in order to assume the responsibility of being a boss, and was martyred as a result.
The world of men may be like this, and the whole life is entangled in these three points: principle, empathy, and responsibility, but how many can really be achieved? I'm working hard, even if I will pay the same price as Neil, how about you?
