The only thing that prevents these receptionists from cutting us to pieces is your line of code.

Bernard

In the last episode, I said that Bernard and Ford, a pair of designers who are also mentor, apprentice and friend, are different in the management of the entire Westworld, but the two are actually completely different in nature. Frankenstein is a god. In this episode, this kind of performance begins to become more and more obvious.

Although Dolores was not designed by Bernard, the abnormal performance of Dolores in the past made Bernard a strong interest in her. The continuous enrichment and improvement of Dolores’ human nature made Bernard I began to feel that she was no longer a human creation, but a person like us. In the character dialogue, we can learn that the main reason for Bernard's taciturn is his dead young son. Therefore, Dolores has begun to replace his son's position in Bernard's heart at this time.

Just as Frankenstein continued to inspire and guide Frankenstein after he created it, Bernard did the same to Dolores. The world described in the fairy tale of "Alice in Wonderland" is somewhat similar to the Western World, and Bernard seems to be trying to induce Dolores through this book to see how much she will surpass herself. In this episode, Bernard has had many exchanges with Dolores, and he seems to be getting more and more involved. In the last dialogue in this episode, Bernard even told Dolores the theory that Ford said to him that "mistakes make everything evolve", and for the first time in front of Dolores Comparing himself to his father means that Bernard has completely embarked on the same path as Dr. Frankenstein.

As we all know, Frankenstein and his creation Frankenstein had a tragic end. So, what will happen to Bernard and Dolores? Bernard chose not to delete the conversation in Dolores' mind. This is tantamount to planting a bomb. As for when the bomb will be detonated, let us wait and see. In Bernard's own words, "Let's see how it develops."

Ford

Frankenstein was acting, and God was not idle. We have seen in the last episode that Ford, who has almost withdrawn from the story line, is not planning to retreat, but is planning an unprecedented huge story line about religion and belief. Now, the time is ripe. Ford suddenly took over the story line and changed nearly half of the old content, which was tantamount to an earth-shaking situation for the Westworld.

In this episode, we saw that Ford mainly changed the story line of Dolores’ boyfriend Teddy. Only here did we understand that Teddy was not a simple cowboy, but a bounty hunter. The change of the storyline allowed him to go deep into the mountains to hunt down a murderous murderer, but apparently, in the darkness of isolation and helplessness, what Teddy saw was not a murderer. We can see that the last people who appeared were wearing dark red cloaks and strange masks on their faces. Obviously, these people were dressed more like some cult organization. In Teddy's final resistance, these cult-like guys were shot several times by Teddy, but they still swarmed and killed Teddy, as if the bullets did not harm them. In this regard, I have a guess: the murderer named Wyatt pursued by Teddy once claimed to have heard the voice of God, and at this time a gang similar to a cult appeared, then this shows that an evil The religion of Wyatt has been formed. The one called Wyatt is probably the pope. There are demons and angels. Old Ford’s white church has been built in the desert. A bright religion will also appear. After that, I’m afraid it will be for the western world. The test and redemption of the cyborg and many human players.

There is another detail. When Bernard wanted to talk to Ford alone, Ford taught a staff member. He told the staff member sternly that artificial humans are not humans, so don't bring emotions to them. This is the difference between Frankstein and God. One brings his feelings into man-made people, eager to seek comfort; while the other always stands on a high place and looks down on sentient beings. What's interesting is that although this sentence was for the staff, in my opinion, it is more like a side attack on Bernard.

Dolores

In the last episode, Dolores dug a pistol out of the ground outside her home. Now, she found the gun in her closet again. In an instant, all kinds of memories were triggered. So I feel that although Dolores is awakened, she does not fully recognize her environment and role, and because the thinking of the artificial person is controlled by the management, she cannot completely control herself, just like she Saying to Bernard, "I feel that when I find out who I am, I will be free." Therefore, Dolores hid the gun to allow herself to pass through every morning when she woke up. That gun stimulated his awakening.

Bernard’s stimulation and induction of Dolores obviously played a role. When she was with Teddy in the valley before, Dolores couldn’t pull the trigger at all. Her setting seemed to be that she couldn’t shoot, but In the barn, facing the gangster who was about to rape herself, she pulled the trigger, and in addition to being aggressive, Delores actually had the ability to predict her plot in advance. This may mean that Dolores' awakening has since increased to another level.

In Dolores’ flashback, we saw an old friend, the man in black. This guy who didn't appear in this episode appeared in Dolores' terrible flashback. Moreover, the man in black also made a familiar move, drew the terrible knife, smiled and said let's start from the beginning, it can be seen that the man in black is not the first time to cut his scalp in the first episode. Also cut Dolores's scalp. And in the last episode, there were scenes of the man in black and the scalping in the flashback of the madam. It seems that the man in black has not been idle for these thirty years. He continued to cut the man-made man. Scalp, is it just as simple as finding a map?

William

In the previous episode, Comrade William, who was confused and confused, finally found his own joy in life in this episode. After shooting and saving a prostitute, he found that being a bounty hunter was truly in line with his pursuit. In the dialogue between William and his brother-in-law, we learned that the consumption in the Western World is 40,000 US dollars a day, which also confirms the inference that the man in black is very rich. At the end of this episode, Dolores, who had escaped from the dead, met William again. In the following plot, William will definitely help her get revenge. But it’s worth noting that among the bandits who slaughtered Dolores’s family, there was a man in gray. This man had already mixed up with Dolores during the day when the bandits molested Dolores, and this man in gray , Obviously a human player. If William wants to go back to help Dolores get revenge, he must face this man in gray. If this is the case, then we will see a wonderful human player duel.

Arnold

This mysterious figure came out through Ford’s memories. He was Ford’s original partner. It can be said that some of the key "humanization" improvements of the cyborgs in the Western World were completed by Arnold, so the cyborgs in the Western World When something goes wrong, they will talk to Arnold who remains in their program. Bernard now seems very much like the original Arnold, persistently infusing his emotions into the artificial people, eager to make them "human" to the maximum extent, but obviously, the result of doing so is terrible. Ford vaguely stated the ending of Arnold. He said that Arnold died in the Western World. The official recognized it as an accident. It is not difficult to imagine that Arnold must have been killed by a man-made man he created and continuously optimized. Arnold’s death is likely to be used by HBO to connect with the original 1973 film, but it’s not necessarily. In any case, Arnold’s death seems to be a hint to Bernard’s possible future.

In the conversation between Ford and Bernard, Ford mentioned the pyramid of human consciousness. From bottom to top, they are memory, improvisation, and self-interest. No one knows the spire of the last layer. For Bernard, the first three forms of consciousness have already been manifested in Dolores. Therefore, Bernard’s induction of Dolores is based on Frankenstein’s father’s mentality on the one hand, and on the other. On the one hand, he also wanted to use Dolores to explore what the top of the human consciousness would be.

This episode doesn't seem to have so many explosive shots in the first two episodes, just a lot of dialogue, but it actually lays a lot of clues for future development. What's more noteworthy is that when the manager looked for the escaped wood-chopping robot, he got out of the sleep routine like a maid, and almost caused an accident. Fortunately, the raised rock hit the man’s own head. From the dialogue, we can know that the most important thing for man-made humans is the head. This is also the basis for their continuous rebirth. The man-made man lifted the boulder. We don’t know whether it’s a program disorder or a desire to find relief. We only know that this is an indistinguishable signal from a human being to all human beings. Western World is a paradise, human players and management can do whatever they want, but the good times have become yesterday, the black door is about to open, Western Paradise will become a hell on earth.
