A sunny dark corner

First of all, the actor, Sebastian played by the actor Ryan Phillippe is simply my favorite. When he put on those myopia glasses, I only thought of one word, Sven scum. Two heroines, Annetta played by Reese Witherspoon and Kathryn played by Sarah Gellar. Reese in the legally blonde Elle Woods, she's just right for the white, rich, ambitious character. Sarah Gellar is just too good-looking in this movie, the all-black outfit at the park with the black wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses, I really like it, elegant and a little dangerous. Cecile Caldwell, played by Selma Blair, and the little black brother are not so harmonious in the movie.

This movie is adapted from the French epistolary novel "Dangerous Relationships". I haven't read the novel, I just watched the movie, so I started from the movie itself. I watched the raw meat version, not 100% understood every sentence, so the understanding may be biased.

First of all, my positioning for this film is a youth film. Based on the plot: It tells the story of a group of children in the upper class of New York before they go to college; Character: Cecile is obviously responsible for being funny; I think only watching it with the setting of a youth film will not be too disappointed. Sebastian and Kathryn are stepsister and stepbrother relationship. The subtle feelings between the two of them are also worth pondering. I think he had a crush on Kathryn, whether it was physical attraction or my love that appeared in the diary. One thing is, she can go in and out of Kathryn's room at will every time. Even if someone is in trouble, she can disturb her at will after knocking on the door. I think the close relationship between them exceeds that of ordinary siblings. Kathryn's impact on him was both physical and psychological. But then, he must have been awakened by Annetta again. He said Annetta could make him laugh and his mental activity changed. From the beginning, Kathryn is cruel, but Sebastian has a hint of kindness. From the time he made Kathryn reconsider destroying Cecile, he said to a supporting actor I believe you, he didn't make a bet on Annetta, and he didn't ask Kathryn to fulfill the bet in the end. Anyway, I saw a lot of his kindness. As for Annetta, I also wondered what the smile on her face at the end of the movie meant when she drove the car, was it the thrill of avenging Sebastian, or the faction she represented finally defeated Kathryn's team, or something else explanation of. From her crying after Sebastian went to mention the breakup, I thought it was both. She was originally not the same type as Sebastian, but because of Sebastian's gradual changes, the two gradually got closer. Kathryn, on the other hand, stayed in her dark corner all the time, and her only thought of kindness was when she said "Goodbye, Sebastian". She knew she was about to lose him, but she forced him away anyway. Anyway, the end is that the good guys go all the way and the bad guys are punished, but only Sebastian, it seems, can only be freed by death.

Cruel Intentions quotes

  • Helen Rosemont: Sebastian, I want you to meet Annette.

    Sebastian: Well, well.

    Annette: Hello.

Helen Rosemont: She'll be staying with me for a while.

Sebastian: I guess that makes two of us. Aunt Helen, why don't you go inside and whip us up some of that iced tea of yours. I'll... tend to Annette.

Helen Rosemont: All right. You two don't get into any trouble.

    AnnetteSebastian: We won't.

  • Annette: I wouldn't expect a man of your experience to understand my beliefs.

Sebastian: [taken off-guard] Uh... what's THAT supposed to mean?

Annette: I've been very well-informed of your reputation.

    Sebastian: What have you heard?

Annette: That you promise girls the world in order to get them in bed with you.

Sebastian: [after a pause; more stunned] Who told you this?

    Annette: A friend wrote me.

    Sebastian: That's a little tacky.

Annette: Why do you sound so surprised? It's the truth isn't it?

Sebastian: [walks away; shrugs] If you say so.
