Walk in line

Regardless, this movie brought tears to my eyes. Reese won the Oscar for this movie. I think if it wasn't for the award, if it wasn't for the recommendation of the stall owner, I wouldn't have the chance to see this movie (because I don't really like biographical movies).

The film tells the story of the American rock king Cash. What I like about this film is how close to reality it is. How the facts are, they will be expressed in a straightforward manner, with few traces of axe chisels. Precisely because it is reality, that is, some feelings that we ordinary people have experienced, it is easier to resonate.

One is about the parent-child relationship. Cash's older brother died in an accident in childhood, but his father always favored his older brother. Cash had a sense of inferiority. His older brother was good in everything. Except for his instinctive ability to sing, Cash was useless. His brother died, but his father blamed Cash and angered him. He was always disgusted with Cash's various things. No matter how Cash made money and became famous, how he was troubled by drug addiction, and how poor he was, he couldn't defuse his father's anger, and he couldn't get his father's recognition. What he got was always sarcasm. It was not until Cash overcame drug addiction, regained the courage to live, and his father was in his late years, that was at the end of the film, that Cash had the confidence to face his father.

From this, I think of an irregular law: the most favored people in the family are often the eldest and the youngest, and the eldest is often very good, because he has been the so-called leader since he was a child, and he is a role model for his younger brothers and sisters; and because he is the first one. children get the attention of their parents. The youngest is also the most favored, often the most selfish one. Not only is his parents spoiled, but even his older brothers and sisters have to let him protect him and spoil him. Most of them have a personality closer to an only child~~~ and the most embarrassing is the middleman. Cash is a prime example, especially since he is the middle of the three older children in the family, with a good brother of similar age and a toddler sister. And Cash's father was such a rude worker, hesitating to lose his beloved son and drinking too much, the crime that Cash suffered can be imagined.

For this, there is one more detail. When Cash called his fiancée in the Air Force, the girl mentioned that Cash's father said he "has a problem" and "is not like everyone else and can't do it." ...Actually, from this moment on, Cash's image has been discounted in the eyes of his wife. When his wife looks at him, she has already taken a skeptical attitude and has already left the roots of contempt. It seems to me that Cash's wife doesn't love him at all, she loves his commitment and demands so much from her husband. The marriage was doomed from the start. It doesn't matter if the husband and wife don't have common interests, but if they don't have a common vision for life, it's bad. Cash's first wife actually never supported his singing career from start to finish.

When Cash was most hopelessly addicted to drugs, his family abandoned him, only June stayed, caring for him, taking care of him, even June's old father acted as a guard, put an end to it Cash's dealings with drugs. what is love? This is true love. It was supposed to be given by Cash's wife, but June gave it to him without remembering anything in return. What a lovely family June and her family are. Although June has also experienced a failed marriage, her parents still love her, help her, and support her. To have such a home in life is really not afraid of any disaster.

After his comeback, Cash chose to perform his first concert for prison inmates. He has focused on vulnerable groups throughout his life, which is not only related to his past imprisonment, but also to his childhood experiences. He used to be struggle all the time, in order to fight for a breath, in order to prove that he was not worthless, but he could never erase his inner self-abasement and self-abandonment, and he could never get the love and trust he wanted. This is the most real feeling that comes from life, which many people have experienced personally. It is shared by the vast majority of ordinary people who are not excellent, unloved, and whose willpower is not strong enough. This is also the root cause of the film's fascination with me.

75/100. Ordinary biopics are about the same as love. The song is good, and the two main characters acted well. A love story in music history.

When watching biopics, I like watching the ending song, and the subtitles continue to describe what happened to the biographical characters.

Walk the Line quotes

  • Vivian Cash: John, whats with the black? You look like you're goin' to a funeral!

    Johnny Cash: Maybe I am...

  • June Carter: [after an argument] You are not allowed to speak to me. After that stunt you pulled on the bus, the only place you are allowed to speak to me is on stage. Do you understand?

    Johnny Cash: What'd I do?

June Carter: Gee, I don't know. Why don't you ask your big, fat shadow?
