What it means in Rennt Rola

Every one in the world has his individual volition, which cannot be predicted and measured by an absolute stranger. In so far as human understanding, only things that are consistent and regular can be cognized correctly. And other things, taking human volition as an example , can only be considered as former things by human understanding when we have to cognize them, viz., making them objects. When we do that, we cheat ourselves, for they are veritably beyond our ability of understanding.

Before modern society, people lived without many strangers in daily life; they can make decisions that led to distinct effect. So to a certain extent we can say that they control themselves' destinies. By contrast, modern society is an enormous gather of populace, and for the same taste is a huge tangle of human volitions. One's decision to do anything is bound to encounter others' volitions, and if someone's decision is crashed by any of those destinations will be not as predicted. As long as we can live only once, in such a society we cannot know what others want to do in the next second as a consequence of the diversity of purpose. So it can be inferred that we live only of coincidence, we cannot say we can control ourselves' destinies at any level.

And if we could live twice or as Frederich Nietzsche mentioned, “eternal resurrence”, would one have controlled the destiny of his own? The director says “NO”. Every next time Lola committed as she had learn the last time, she avoided some confliction of volitions. However, wills were changing all the time; she couldn't take measured of these new changes. Even if she could live a third time, she couldn't inevitably control the destiny of her own..

In the film the presence of casino is a symbol of chance, the ambulance which is for saving lives kills life for the sake of absurdity. The dialogues at interludes imply that no love is of necessity and immortality. Living in such a world is absurd and meaningless even if there was a second life.

The conclusion therefore can be of distinctly expression: What we decide or we do is meaningless, because of every meaning we ascribed formerly to our decision or action has been counter-structured by the remarkable film alone.

What's addition is that the Polish director, Kieslowski , who also discover the blind chance wanted to obtain some essence without flux in the life of chance in order of redemption. His great films, just as la double Vie de Veronique, trois Couleurs (Bleu, Blanc, Rouge), the Decalogue, seem to incline that the only salvation is in the religious values. I really get it.
