What are the highlights of "The Hate You Give"?

There is a lot of content in this classic movie. He talked about racial discrimination, black gang struggles, the drug trade, and the interweaving of black and white cultures. As the title of the movie says, who gave the hatred?

The plot of the movie is probably about a black family, in order to break away from the cycle of hatred of drug gangs, and give their children a safe environment to grow up. Send your children to Williamson School away from Garden Heights. And Williamson School is a white school. At school, daughter Starr carefully concealed the fact that she was from a ghetto. Allow yourself to fit into this all-white school environment as naturally as possible. But I think, perhaps it is this carefulness that makes the heroine forget who gave the hatred?

The heroine Starr attends a black party and meets her childhood sweetheart Karil. After an inexplicable gunshot, Khalil drove Starr home, and met a policeman on the road. The heroine Starr, in accordance with the teachings of her father since she was a child, cooperated as much as possible with the inspection work of the white police. But his friend Khalil refuses to cooperate with the police. In the end, he was shot and killed because the police mistook the comb that his friend Khalil took out of the car for a firearm.

In the face of this tragedy, the heroine Starr asked his uncle, if the face was a white man, would he shoot directly like this? "No, I'll let him raise his hand first!"

Is there really just simple "racism" behind such a tragedy? You know, the uncle who said these words is also a black man! In the face of the high crime rate in the Garden District, the rampant drug trade, and the proliferation of guns, the police decisively killed Khalil is not so much a "racial discrimination" as a simple self-protection! Of course I wouldn't say that the killing of an unarmed young black man by the white police officer was an act of justice. In the face of this "understandable" mistake, the American judiciary chose to "forgive" the white police, and I have no right to judge whether it is right or wrong. American law naturally has its standards of judgment. The key is what is the reason for this obviously biased legal policy? Do black people themselves have something to reflect on?

In the movie, Starr's parents send him directly to white schools in order to stay away from the chaotic teaching environment of black schools. I can't help but reflect, why can't black people's own schools have a minimum safe, healthy, and excellent teaching environment? The lack of education has led to the low overall economic capacity of blacks. In the increasingly harsh living environment, young black people can only take risks and go to the road of no return, drug trafficking. What is even more tragic is that almost all the consumers of drugs are black people themselves. Drugs are like a deadly and tempting poisonous fruit that is deeply rooted in the black community and discourages people from coming. The racial relationship between blacks and whites is getting worse amid growing conflict with white police. Who gave the hatred?

Let's look at it again, what is the reaction of the black community in the face of the obviously unfair legal environment in the United States? Violent demonstrations, smashing police, white shops! In the close-up of several shots of the movie, in order to prevent accidental injury to their own people, they also wrote "Black Shop" with an airbrush on the storefront! Hatred is circulating, and fairness is even more distant. Who gave the hatred?

Here I especially want to talk about the role of Haley, played by Sabrina Carpenter . Haley's grasp of the character is what makes me give this movie extra points. In the context of the terror that blacks give to white groups, Hailey's steadfastness to friendship deeply touched me. I don't know why the heroine insisted until the end that her only white friend Haley (except her white boyfriend) was an absolute racist. I only saw that in the context of a school where blacks were collectively panicked by white groups, Hailey and an Asian American firmly became friends of Starr. After Starr saw her childhood friend killed in front of her face again, Hailey had been caring for her at Starr. There is a scene in the play where Asian friends are watching TV blankly while eating snacks.

Hailey asked Starr, "You've only said five sentences since you entered the house, are you alright?"

Starr has been avoiding the recent shooting for fear that his friends would know he was from a ghetto. Then, while trying to disguise his emotions, he was surrounded by boundless hatred. What did Hailey do? Finally let Starr choose to break up?

1. Skipping classes under the guise of denouncing justice as "Khalil". Then I cared about the white policeman from the bottom of my heart.

People always unconsciously demand high standards from those around them. On the one hand, I hope that my friends understand me, on the other hand, I am full of distrust and cautiousness. You know, even Starr's uncle, as a police officer, felt that he could understand the shooting behavior of white police officers. In that environment, white cops might really just be doing their job. You know, in the middle of the night, a black man disobeyed the police's instructions and lay on his back in the car, but pulled out a gun-like thing in the car. I believe that all white police officers in the United States, even black police officers, would shoot without hesitation. !

2. Hayley unfollows Starr on tumblr

As the incident unfolded, Starr chose to speak out on the television media in defense of Khalil. Things are almost impossible to hide at school. But when Hailey asked Starr about the situation, the answer she got was still:

"fine..."

If you really want to say betrayal, is Starr really just friendship with Hailey? Or is it a pawn to try to be as unobtrusive as possible among the white community? And what did Hailey get after giving pure friendship? Is it a lie? As for racism. Is it any good for a so-called "racist" to associate with black people? After the shooting, Starr was often restless and absent-minded with his friends, asking what was the problem, but talking in general terms. What is the scariest thing among friends? betray? use? I think it's a sense of distance. Between friends, if they are no longer based on trust, they will freely vent their hatred under the racial prejudice in their hearts. Is friendship still necessary? Hailey felt that the Starr in front of her had become unfamiliar. In the end, Hailey chose to let this unpleasant memory pass, but what was Starr's answer? Comb-waving, violent demonstrations of the nasty confrontation between whites and blacks. Who gave the hatred? Who is spreading hatred?

Haley, I always hope the director gives a happy ending. But just like reality, there is still an unbridgeable gulf between whites and blacks. Starr still chose to break with Haley's friendship.

Hatred must never be replaced by hatred. Only self-respect, self-respect, and self-improvement can end this cycle of evil!

Drugs and rap can't save black people, let alone rely on white people's handouts. Only the black people can save the black people!

Rue is so beautiful growing up!

The text of the novel is too heavy, like two episodes splicing American dramas more than one movie, half of the rhythm is completely frantic, and the emotions are in a state of oversaturation at any time. Anthony Mackie plays the villain how I look and how I want to laugh, and the heroine's face keeps reminding me of Ouyang Nana.
