Satan Strike

In Visconti's "The Panther", Prince Salina still adheres to the bottom line of his noble blood, while Renoir's "Rules of the Game" completely rots the decoration of the nobles. Renoir made this film neither left nor right. He compared the bourgeoisie and the proletariat in the same villa. The result of the comparison is that everyone is human, everyone is sick, and it is the same disease. It's a story of relationship turmoil, where everyone's emotions go as they please.

The pilot Julio who just completed the feat of flying across the Atlantic is regarded as a national hero by the French people. The news is broadcast on the radio at the beginning of the film, and everyone cheers to welcome Julio back home. But Julio did not express any positive energy in front of the media after returning to China, but wanted to see his dream lover Christine.

Christine is a marquise, a noble lady, and she believes that there is pure friendship between men and women, such as her and Julius. She also has a loyal maid, Jesse, who believes that there is no pure friendship between men and women. Jesse and Schumacher, the guard of the Marquis' house, are husband and wife, and the age gap between the two is quite large. Christine's husband is Robert, Christine does not love her husband, she feels that life with her husband is torment. So instead of breaking down when she saw her husband flirting with his lover through the binoculars while hunting, she was very calm and even wanted to laugh.

Robert is in love with his wife Christine, but that doesn't stop him from finding a lover in search of excitement. When Robert was hunting with his friends, his guard Schumacher caught the poacher Ma Su in the hunting ground, but in order to appear generous, Robert let Ma Su work for him, Ma Su became a servant. In the villa, Ma Su and the maid Jesse hit it off, and they were discovered by Schumacher when they were making out. So far, Schumacher and Ma Su formed a relationship.

Robert, Julio, and Christine have a mutual friend, Otaf. Octave is a womanizer and wants to flirt with any woman he sees. Christine asked Otaf to help invite Julio to the party held in the villa, and Julio came as promised.

In this way, all the horses and horses came together, the upper and the lower layers gathered together, and cheating and betrayal complemented each other.

The chase scene of the party is the climax of the whole film. Schumacher chased and killed Ma Su, who had an affair with his wife Jesse, with a gun. The two shuttled through the dance crowd and chased.

Juliet and Kristin discussed elopement, but were discovered by her husband Robert, who got together with Juliet.

Robert told his lover that he wanted to end the relationship, and the lover used alcohol to drown his sorrows.

Master and servant, upper class and lower class, all the characters are caught in a complicated, ugly, hypocritical relationship, and the appearance of civilization is torn to shreds. In the chase scene of the party, Renoir used a lot of depth-of-field shots. Multiple things happened at the same time in the same picture, such as chasing, cheating, going crazy, etc. The scene scheduling was quite complicated. The camera is in motion almost from start to finish, following the chase and movement of the actors, in one go, smoothly.

In the end, because Schumacher shot and nearly hurt the guest, Robert fired Schumacher and Masu too. And the empty Christine hooked up with his good friend Otaf. For the sake of Christine's happiness, Robert decided to give Christine to Julius. As a result, Juliet was shot to death by a depressed Schumacher on the way to Christine. Giulio is the only single, unabashed, real person in the film who just loves Kristen, that's all, and is the only one who dies. This shot was Renoir's satanic blow, eliminating an outsider, and that's the rules of the game.

Facial blindness attacks. I can't tell who is who, and they all say that the group drama is awesome, but I can't figure out the relationship between the characters at all.

    1. The director's scene scheduling is really impressive. 2. While watching this film, I sometimes want to compare it with Citizen Kane. 3. The loneliness, extravagance, indifference, cruelty, and chaos leaked out of the noise, followed by quiet melancholy and turmoil.

The Rules of the Game quotes

  • Geneviève de Marras: Please give me an answer.

Robert de la Cheyniest: No, I don't love you anymore. I'm fond of you, but...

Geneviève de Marras: But I bore you.

Robert de la Cheyniest: The words you come up with, my dear.

Geneviève de Marras: The right ones. I give up. You can fight hatred, but not boredom. Well, the whole thing's getting to me, too. Seeing you play shepherd to your Viennese shepherdess, makes me want to yawn.

  • Christine de la Cheyniest: Women should help each other out once in a while.
