The old scientist in this film seems to be discussing where people go after death, but in fact the conclusion is that there are different versions of parallel life at the same time, because time does not exist at all, there is no linear "beginning" and "end", these Concepts are just how people feel. This was revealed when the old scientist asked a "questionnaire". And that machine is the key to connecting different versions of life. With the props of the machine, it seems to convince the audience that there are indeed different versions of the fact that parallel lives exist.
In this film, the director borrowed the lines of the old scientist to express some very connotative things, such as jumpsuits, exaggerated performances and so on. In fact, this is our world. What we call the real world is nothing more than a different version of the world.
