in the name of the movie

Chaotic world
bordering on absurd laws "7 days in jail for no reason"
dead-faced police detectives

spacious and bright prisons
cozy little cells
loving fathers
stubborn sons

"I don't know how happy they were when they threatened to shoot you! I can finally get rid of You!"
I was crying when I said this,
because of their threats, I was beaten into a trick.
Why did you
end up in prison because of me ? ?

"My son didn't break the law, why arrest him??!"
"I will always be by your side"
Even if death is already staring at me,
I will still hope that you will see the sun again
"You never conceived him, but I did"
We should all believe you
even if I leave, you have to live with hope
"even if I die, you do not touch that stuff."
"a Promise Is is that?"

The historical significance is greater than the artistic value. DDL's acting skills are not outstanding in this film, but Emma is really good.

Brits are lovely and understand all their personalities. The clothes back then were so pretty! The music and accents are great. I understand the origin of Day Lewis. I like the African guy in prison, but my favorite is the actor who played the terrorist. With a sense of justice, the audience applauded. (archive)

In the Name of the Father quotes

  • Giuseppe Conlon: I want you have some respect.

    Gerry Conlon: Respect for who?

    Giuseppe Conlon: For yourself.

  • [Speaking to people outside the court]

Gerry Conlon: I'm an innocent man. I spent 15 years in prison for something I didn't do. I watched my father die in a British prison for something he didn't do. And this government still says he's guilty. I want to tell them that until my father is proved innocent, until all the people involved in this case are proved innocent, until the guilty ones are brought to justice, I will fight on. In the name of my father and of the truth!
