Born from the masterpiece "Crazy Mountains" by a master craftsman

After watching "Crazy Mountains" by the master of craftsmanship, the story structure is the same, but the setting of the deforming ability of the strange shape is quite creative, and it is horrible to the shadow of eternal childhood. Under the conditions at the time, it was not easy to be able to make such special effects. It can be said that the later monster-type horror films basically cannot escape this kind of story structure and environment setting. The isolated environment, the unknown horror, and the dead team members have become standard equipment. [B+] This piece is so good, it's too appetizing for me. Compared with the predecessor's "Alien", the exquisite and elegant machine and the hybrid art design of sex worship, this "Strange Shape" can be described as "rough and weird", and it is completely used to test the Hollywood prop production team and the art design team. An experimental piece of personal level. The appearance of those alien creatures is really damn evil, and compared with aliens, they are the other extreme of "disgusting people". In addition to these, Morricone's soundtrack also impressed me. A few simple low tones in the opening can depict the outline of the movie atmosphere, which is really handy for creating the atmosphere. A classic cult film, personally I think this is better than "Alien".

Among the science fiction films in the early 1980s, they were pretty good. The atmosphere is full, if you haven't seen the alien first, this film is definitely worth watching. In addition, this film also involves the issue of human nature, which is a rare part of science fiction horror films.

The Thing quotes

  • Dr. Blair: Clark?

    Clark: Yeah?

Dr. Blair: Did you notice anything strange about the dog? Anything at all?

    Clark: Strange? No.

Dr. Blair: What was the dog doing in the rec room?

Clark: I don't know. It's just wondering around camp all day.

Dr. Blair: Are you sayin' to me the dog wasn't put in the kennel until last night?

    Clark: Right.

Dr. Blair: How long were you alone with that dog?

Clark: I don't know. An hour... hour-and-a-half maybe. What the hell you looking at me like that for?

Dr. Blair: [pause; now nervous] I don't know.

    Clark: What?

Dr. Blair: I don't know. It's probably nothing. It's nothing at all.

  • Garry: I don't know about Copper... but I give you my word I did not go near that blood!

[Garry lowers his gun and places it on a crate]

Garry: But I guess you'd all feel a little easier if somebody else was in charge. Norris, I can't see somebody objecting to you.

Vance Norris: [after a pause; nervous tone] I'm sorry fellas, but I-I-I'm not up to it.

Childs: [goes for the gun] I'll take it.

Clark: [pulls out his knife] Like hell you will!

MacReady: [takes the gun] It should be somebody a little more even-tempered, Childs.
