I want to find words to describe such a movie, but to no avail.
I think they are telling a story. Because when telling the story, the triviality of the background is filtered out. Because of the lack of trivialities, the sense of reality fades and the taste of magic is highlighted. There are no superfluous characters or even superfluous scenes. Houses can be slanted and forests can wither.
They are like a kind of psychological analysis. The childhood memories always flash back unexpectedly, slowly revealing the causal relationship between them and the protagonist's character. These past events not only affect the character of the person, but also have a wonderful reaction with the person's present, which affects the person's choice at this moment. Suddenly I felt that Freud might like such a movie.
