Wandering between entertainment and art

This film feels very nervous, so nervous that it seems to be in a hurry; this film is indeed very compact, and the plot is so compact that it is suspected of collapse. Yes, the family is very touching, but at the end, the heroine's expression is too stiff. And why does the narcotics detective always look like a polished commander? Why are the police always the cannon fodder? No matter what kind of adventure the protagonist encounters, it is just "thrilling", and the vicious criminal must be bad and must die. This movie is so affectionate, so emotional. It can be seen that the director originally wanted to dig more criminal psychology, but unfortunately, he failed to talk about this idea thoroughly. Some language does have a playful value, but when great lines are drowned out by fiery explosions and intense gunfights, we hardly see any depth. And even explosions and gunfights can always smell out of Hong Kong.
The idea of the plot is very unique, but it failed to capture the depth and atmosphere it should have. When the anti-narcotics agent said, "The study of criminals can give insight into the status quo of human civilization," and when he said, "The 'deadly virus' is a mental criminal that has long been established in the system", I was really frightened by these violent words, and I sat upright. I was going to visit the director to explore criminal psychology, but it turned out that I only saw the perverts of a few of them and other tricks with vague faces and characters. In fact, I only remember three people among the prisoners in the air prison: the villain, the black conspirator, and the unlucky guy who tried to sneak away but was burned alive. That murderer? He is the biggest paradox. The director seemed to want to tell us that he was moved by the innocence of the little girl. But a person with a criminal record of killing 37 people and using the body of one of the girls as a hat can really be influenced so easily? Possibly, but only for a while. A person's psychological change is a long-term process, but the director wants to turn a murderer into a human angel through such an unreliable hijacking incident? ! It can only show that the director is naive and irresponsible in grasping the character's character.
And the black villain, I wanted to see how he could overthrow the big villain's rule, but his performance couldn't match the introduction to him about the "black guerrillas" in the title. All I saw in the whole movie was that he was laughing cunningly but not smartly, and even his marksmanship was not very accurate. How could he be the leader of the guerrillas? ! Oh, yes, maybe the director wants to talk about racism, but unfortunately, in the movie, the role of this topic is only a small gimmick at the beginning.
This is the natural paradox of this film: it is rooted in the entertainment value of commercial blockbusters, but it wants to tap into a considerable depth of human nature. When it is overwhelmed, it has to retreat. So we see a Hollywood wandering between entertainment and art Popcorn action movie. It can't be a classic, it can only be worth watching.

The perverted killer who killed 30 people, the director did not arrange too many performances for him, but left two suspense: 1. I used to like to blaspheme and kill little girls, but then I didn't do it when facing the little girl who was playing. Why? It shows that people can be influenced. Second, the scene that finally appeared in the casino and won money symbolizes that people can also rely on luck to change their fate. Do you believe the above two views? Anyway, I think they are all just movies.

Con Air quotes

  • Nathan 'Diamond Dog' Jones: [intentionally antagonizing him] Yee-haw! What's on your mind, Hillbilly?

Cameron Poe: What was I thinking about? Oh, yeah, "yee-haw", that's right. I was just wondering what a black militant - that would be you - was doin' takin' orders from a white boy on a power trip? Don't you think that's strange?

Nathan 'Diamond Dog' Jones: It's a means to an end, my white friend. A means to an end. See, I's can play house nigger tills we get to where we're goin'. And then, the Day of the Dog begins.

  • Cameron Poe: [taking daughter's picture back] Told you I'd get that back.

Guard Falzon: Fuck you, trailer trash!

Cameron Poe: HEY! My mama lives in a trailer! Now put those on! I just saved your life.
