"The Flower of the Other Side", Ozu's first color film, Tokyo in 60 years, even Ginza, is like a sloppy temporary background for the current situational indoor drama. The story is as light as white water, and the characters are as steady as Mount Tai. Fathers marry daughters and encourage daughters from other families to fall in love freely, but it is their daughter's turn to be unrelenting. But in fact, what the father cared about was that the daughter did not discuss with her parents, and another man took away her daughter's love for him.
The Japanese say that the other side of the flower is a flower that blooms on the road to hell. It can often be seen in the graves and wild places. When it blooms, you can't see the leaves. When there are leaves, you can't see the flowers.
Sitting in an empty train, my father finally went to visit his eldest daughter, Setsuko, who was married to Hiroshima, and read a slightly sad poem from his childhood. Parents grow old, and the intersection with their children will become less and less as their children get married, just like the flowers and leaves of the other side of the flower, the joys and sorrows of life, weddings and funerals always go hand in hand, I suddenly understand that the mother said at the beginning of the movie. Unintentional words: Today's wedding, tomorrow's funeral, life is really strange.
I can give 5 stars, but then I think about how many stars "Tokyo Story" should be given. If there is no 6 stars, then I will feel wronged for this "The Flower of the Other Side". I plan to filter the movies I have watched and divide them into several categories, such as cow C movies, cow B movies, and "Tokyo Story" can be put into another folder called "fighters in cow B movies".
