Bright Young Things movie review

Stephen Fry is indeed a Cambridge graduate who grew up listening to Wagner, and his taste in picking films is so different from ordinary people.
The movie "Glorious Years" is adapted from the novel "The Evil Body" published in the 1930s by British satirical and humorist Evelyn Waugh. Studying in Oxford, the London press, and going through World War II, it is not difficult to see the author's autobiographical color on the hero.
The film begins with the role of Adam, played by Steven Campbell Moore. Moore took off his history teacher's glasses and played the upper-class youth of the flashy era. Being in it, and always restraining yourself on the edge. The instant gain and loss of a large amount of money, marriage and failure, bankruptcy, unemployment, and war, these many problems that crush ordinary people came to Adam. And his love has become the only part of the whole film that moves most people.
It's better to describe it. If you only insist on being exciting, you can only say that this film is not suitable for you. The character's fullness, specialness, and ups and downs make people laugh out loud, frown for a while, and then think about the deep meaning.
It's not a lie to say that Evelyn Waugh is the most enduring writer. The obscure jump of the original novel, the author wrote to describe the social era, and the British black humor has caused headaches to the world.
Surprisingly, Stephen Fry's adaptation retains the original aura, modernity and elegance, and at the same time finds a clue in the brokenness and presents it more completely. That's not to mention that he picks the actor's taste. The young actors in the film, even if they are tricks, make people open their mouths.

Steven Campbell Moore Stephen Campbell Moore's play "The History Boy" caused a sensation in the UK, and the adaptation into a movie was also very profound and wonderful. "Amazing Grace", "Bank Robbery". Well to be honest, I love him to death.

James McAvoy James McAvoy We all know, I will not say.

Emily Mortimer Emily Mortimer This woman's filming experience... Let me list
In Woody Allen's "Match Point", there are countless great gods; she has participated in "Notting Hill", "Wind Whisperer", "Scream 3" and other films, and she is also in "Shutter Island"! Worked with Bruce Willis and Ewan McGregor, including starring in "Inflatable Doll Love" with Ryan Gosling; as well as various dubbing, various dramas... I was shocked... Terrible

David Tennant David Tennant Ha, one of my favorite Doctors ever! She's still cute with her hair dyed gold and a beard. He played Barty Krach Jr. in "Harry Potter". And Casanova, the audiobook of which Benendict has read.

Michael Sheen has worked with Fry in Wilde, and has a nine-year relationship with Kate Beckinsale (Pearl Harbor, Underworld, Van Helsing); The Queen (I'm impressed) , "Blood Diamond", "Kingdom of Heaven" have him. I have to say, his acting is brilliant and he plays gay with ease.

And when I saw Mark Gatiss and our Mike flashed by, standing with the Doctor with the familiar hateful smile, I just shook my head and took a screenshot.

Peter O'Toole Sir Peter O'Toole, one of the greatest actors of his generation, is so expressive, Charles Chaplin? Greta Garbo? Haha, I am dying of laughter.

No subtitles... How come you always appear in front of me, that seductress of Wilde. It turns out that whoever plays that sissy Wen Qing can play it well

Bright Young Things quotes

  • Simon Balcairn: [Telling his fake news story] The most shocking orgy since the days of Sodom and Gomorrah rocked society last night.

Typist: Hold the presses, get down to compositing. Now.

Simon Balcairn: The vulgar evangelist, Mrs. Melrose Ape, proudly revealed that her angels were no more than underage adornments on sale to the highest bidder. Meanwhile, tears coursing down her face, the honorable Agatha... , whose repulsive liason with the Prime Minister shocked the nation this week, bewailed her, quote: "Ruined, bogus, vapid, bogus, and worthless life," unquote.

    [pause]

Simon Balcairn: Yes, two boguses. Lady Maitland, shrieking of her terrible dependence upon cocaine powder, threw off her Schiaparelli ball gown and stood naked upon the dance floor, an example quickly followed by old and young alike until only the servants remained clothed. And grotesquely hairy Archie Schwert, swinging naked from the chandelier, screamed that all his money derived from prostitution and the opium trade. Lady Maitland's son Miles howled and howled and confessed to an intimate beastliness involving five guardsmen of the royal household, two marines, and a brick layer from Hattersfield. Nina Blount... Nina Blount grasped her stomach, screamed she was a whore, and misquoted several lines of Lady MacBeth whilst Adam Fenwick-Symes cried on heaven to bear witness to his talentless penury and hopeless illiteracy.

  • Simon Balcairn: [Telling his fake news story] Never, never, never have such scenes been witnessed in high society, that uneasy alliance between Bright Young Things and old survivors. Perhaps this was the defining moment of our epoch of speed and syncopation. This so-called 20th century of angst, neurosis and panic. Reader be glad that you have nothing to do with this world. Its glamour is a delusion, its speed a snare, its music a scream of fear. Faster and faster they swirl, sickening themselves with every turn. The faster the ride, the greater the nausea, the terror, and the shame.

    [pause]

Simon Balcairn: Stop. Yes, that's it. Good night.
