Achilles' Heel——Comment on "Troy"

Achilles was the most famous warrior in ancient Greek history, so much so that philosophers would take him as an example. Zeno put forward the paradox of "Achilles can't catch up with the tortoise", which is to regard Achilles as a strong and good running hero. Legend has it that Achilles was grown up by his mother holding his heel and soaking it in medicine, giving him a physique beyond mortals and an almost indestructible body, and the only thing that was not soaked was his heel. Achilles was killed because of this. "Achilles' Heel" was later hailed as a person or thing no matter how powerful and perfect, there will be fatal flaws.
The "Troy" starring Pete may be more appropriately renamed "Achilles". The story mainly revolves around Achilles. The famous battle of Troy in history retreats as a backdrop for the tragic fate of Achilles.
In the film, Achilles is brave and rebellious. He is the most outstanding warrior of Agamemnon and the most hated warrior of Agamemnon. He didn't want to follow Agamemnon's orders, because he couldn't bear to see a king launching a war for his own selfish desires. He didn't even want to fight for the Greeks, because he knew that was just an excuse. He understood that "Greece was strong enough before I was born." However, there was a reason he couldn't resist.
In fact, at the beginning of the film, the theme was clearly stated, “Humans are constantly pursuing eternal life, and they must be named forever, so that future generations will know our glory and the great love that has happened to us.” Achilles is only because of Odyssey. The phrase "all heroes who participated in the war will leave their name through the ages" went on the battlefield, although his mother clearly told him before leaving, "If you go to Troy, you will inevitably leave your name through the ages, but as long as you go to Troy, , You can never come back again."
Agamemnon said: "Achilles belongs to the past, he is arrogant and will not be loyal to any country." Agamemnon has the ambition of "six kings, four seas and one". He cleverly grasped Achilles' pride and made him wear the armor willingly. Achilles knew that "men want something, but I want more." The yearning for glory and the desire to stay in the past became his "Achilles heel."
The most impressive scene of the whole play takes place the night after Achilles kills the Trojan prince Hector. The King of Troy comes to get his beloved son back. Achilles kneels in front of Hector’s body and treats him. Said, "We will meet soon, brother." At that moment, Achilles had thoroughly penetrated the meaning of his own existence and understood his destiny. He understands that everything has to pay a price. After he killed so many brothers, husbands and relatives with no mercy just because of his glory, he has become the same kind of Agamemnon that he disdains. people.
Hector, who died in Achilles’ hands, was almost a perfect hero. In his life there was only a simple wish to fear the gods and protect his wife and home. He was a good son, a good brother, a good husband, and a good son. Father is also an opponent worthy of respect from anyone. He has repeatedly saved his brother; he was guilty of killing a young man by mistake; he finally walked towards Achilles bravely. Hector is a mirror of Achilles, and it is Hector who makes the proud and vain Achilles recognize himself. Of course, all this is too late. As Achilles' mother predicted, when he sailed away from Mycenae, he would never come back.
The same sail went away, and Helen and Paris were no longer coming back, and the battle of Troy started because of them. If Achilles stayed forever because of "Glory", they stayed because of love. The attitude of the little prince towards love is diametrically opposed to his performance on the battlefield. He knows how much disaster he and Troy will bring to himself and Troy with Helen, but he still has no hesitation. Perhaps this was because he was young and romantic, and he would never do that when he was his brother Hector. But when the city of Troy was broken, Paris finally understood the true meaning of love. He chose to fight, and he chose to be a man his brother would be proud of. He knows that love is not to take, but to give. If you continue to run away, it is not worth winning Helen's love. He wants to be a real man, as long as he is brave, "Regardless of this life or the next life, we will definitely get together."
In the end, Achilles was shot to death by Paris. In fact, it doesn't matter who it is, the death of Achilles is just a sacrifice for his own life. The difference between man and God is that man can die, and it is this that makes every moment in life possibly precious. Before Achilles died, he had already felt the peace brought to him by Briseis. He will not have any regrets for the meaningless days of his life.
