There are no ups and downs, but you can appreciate the various situations of life

The film is just quietly telling a story about two generations who are separated and opposed to each other, but meet within a certain time and space.
One cop and one gangster, also the father of a young child, the antagonistic relationship ended Luke's life and brought the fledgling police officer Avery to fame. Two different lives, but also different lives for their children. The two grown children showed another way of being.
The time axis of the story is very long, and the stories of two generations only reveal one of the thousands of life chains, and there is no need to involve karma. It's just that at the moment of meeting, I can't help but think, hey, what a coincidence!

The director's skill points are all in the narrative technique, and the three stories are connected with the pine forest through the father-son relationship. Ryan Gosling's performance is almost exactly the same as in Desperate Drive, but it doesn't prevent him from starring in the first paragraph which is the best part of the whole article. Dane Dehaan looks like a decadent teenager again, with dark circles under his eyes and a crying voice, I really feel pity!

The Place Beyond the Pines quotes

  • Avery: When I was a kid I used to look at my dad dressed in judge's robes and I used to think that my father was a superhero. And I don't think I was far off. He had that quality that judges have, where they have tremendous compassion, but they're also ferocious at the same time. He wasn't afraid of making enemies. I think that's probably why he had so many friends.

  • Luke: You must get lonely.
