What you think is the truth is not all the truth

John Porter, who went wrong on a special mission in Iraq, resulted in the death of two of his four companions and a serious injury, making him no longer fit for duty as a special forces unit. In seven years, he was estranged by his wife and daughter because he was an incompetent criminal who killed his comrades in arms; neglected by other agencies because he could not perform tasks smoothly; and was exiled by the military because of battlefield mistakes. Living alone in a dormitory with only one house, watching the parking lot for MI6. It is worth mentioning that he became a "celebrity", and almost all the juniors in the military know him. Because letting go of Iraqi children who should not have been let go has resulted in heavy casualties on one's own side, it is the last mistake that should be made on the battlefield.
Hugh Collison, who performed decisively in the same mission in Iraq, was promoted. In seven years, he became the leader of MI6, Section 20. Every day, he wears a tie, suits, carries a briefcase, and drives a BMW. The future of his life is infinitely bright.

At this point in the story, there is the same meaning in some lonely survivors, tragic, but with the inevitability it deserves. The battlefield is the killing field, and any hesitation will become meaningless to be regretted.
Fortunately, the counterattack is not so routine.
The pictures of the three comrades being shot and killed were played repeatedly. Regret was like a nightmare, haunting him all the time, and he was already trapped in it and it was difficult to escape. Fortunately, a photo of a terrorist broadcast in the media gave him a new life, and he wanted to find an answer for himself, for his conscience!
The truth of the matter gave him a temporary relief from his conscience, because the answer was not clear. Then, in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Zimbabwe, he was finally able to continue his military career, whether it was for his own heart or for dignity, he did it all. Ultimately, he still listened to his inner answer.
For military personnel, acting according to personal wishes is a violation of discipline and regulations, and should be condemned and criticized; but in terms of personal development, one should seek inner peace and stability. This conflict tests the hero John Porter.
For comrades-in-arms, it is natural to show each other with sincerity, share weal and woe, and trust each other with our backs. Friendly kill, accidental injury by friendly troops, is a cause of international disputes, deeply despised by peers and misunderstood by relatives. In general, even myself cannot forgive myself for being stupid. And Hugh Collison, not only did this, but also very "righteously" pushed the mess to Porter on the same team. Of course, you can explain that people don't kill themselves for their own sake, but there is no remorse for what they have done, and not everyone can do it. Between comrades-in-arms, calculation and darkness, is another conflict.
Between the hostages or the rescued, and their organization, in the end, believe? betray? Which link is wrong is another highlight of this drama. The problem with the agents is not simply because of money and interests, but because of a lot of them.

In the end, Hugh confessed that he had sacrificed his life for Porter's survival (although Porter was also killed by him when he was in danger).

It doesn't feel reliable for the British to shoot war agents... But the male protagonist is very good-looking, is the plot like that?
