Alive is the rift between immortality and death

Wow, I was blown away by this movie. It's beyond my imagination. Stephen King's depth exceeded my expectations.
First of all, let me talk about the Rangoliel as I understand it. It is a horrible creature with teeth full of teeth and fast-moving calves made up by Toomey's father. A monster of still space. They are actually very common. I think it can be understood as various microorganisms, bacteria and viruses in nature. When people, animals, plants and other living things stop breathing and declare death, they will never delay until the next second, and immediately occupy their death territory. gnaw, invade, and corrode their food. Even inorganic substances such as steel and cement will be swallowed by them, but it will take a little longer. We only see meat maggots, flies, and bugs, but the number of bacteria and microorganisms we cannot see is actually amazing. If you look at it with a magnifying glass, their faces may not be much cuter than the monsters in the film. Therefore, Toomey's father did not make it up, he just described an objective and natural process in a more vivid way. And the so-called "bad boy", Toomey's father taught him to be a lazy bastard who doesn't work hard, and it can also be understood as a "broken" child. "Broken" means corruption, on the verge of death, by nature's microorganisms and bacteria. (Rangoliel) Devour.
Then, sitting on this midnight flight into the crack of time, the ten people at the stationary Bangor Airport, can be understood as a near-death state. Each of them boarded the plane with a depressed will to not want to live. The energy of death on the plane was so heavy that it caused the whole to fall into the rift in time.
Diana, for example, didn't want to go to Los Angeles for eye surgery at all. Because she is blind, she can see more, and once her vision is restored, her natural mission and abilities are lost.
The alcoholic woman didn't want to go to her aunt and be sent to the rehab center at all. She knew it was useless, and she just repeated the meaningless painful process again.
The male protagonist Brian didn't want to carry out this special agent mission at all. He didn't want to kill an innocent woman, and he knew that the murders he had committed in the past were full of evil.
The captain felt guilty for his dead ex-wife, but he couldn't live to say sorry to someone who was dead.
The heroine's flying purpose seems to be beautiful. She is going to meet a male pen pal she has never met, but everyone knows, including herself, that this is an unrealistic dream. An excuse for a dull life.
As for Toomey, although he couldn't wait to go to the meeting, in fact, it was not his will at all, but the fear that was intimidated by his father's lewdness. Although he is a prominent man, life is worse than death under the pursuit of his father and the Rangoliel all the time.
The science fiction writer is himself a spectator of life whose only motivation is to acquire new knowledge and write novels. It is estimated that ten years ago he would no longer be able to write novels (he said he quit smoking ten years ago).
The man who can sleep and eat wherever he goes, if a person lives in the world just to eat and drink anytime, anywhere without any difficulty, and not have any thoughts, then I believe God will not allow it. of. Advanced beings regard people as spiritual plants, and when the spiritual body matures, it will be harvested. If a person has only a physical body that is satisfied without difficulty in moments and does not grow a spiritual body, God will set up obstacles and difficulties for him.
It can be said that these ten people are all people with insufficient will and motivation to live in the real world. Some out of overconfidence, some out of despair and sadness. So, the time rift stretched out its calling hand to them.
Then you can see their performance in the dead land of Bangor Airport. It can be said that whether they can go back or not depends on the motivation of the ten people to go back and their desire to live. It's also a battle of energy. If the energies of death add up to more than the desire to live, then they must have been devoured by Rangoliel.
The first to come alive were science fiction writers. I guess he must be thinking, "Fuck it, that's awesome." I must go back and write these into novels, which must shock the world. He has the will to return to reality.
The energy of the little girl Diana was also stimulated. She could hear and see something that could save a plane. Although she didn't want to go back, she hoped that others would go back alive to verify her ability.
Men who can eat and sleep have the motivation to find food first and satisfy their own physiological needs first.
The alcoholic woman is always a negative energy release at first, and her panic and despair make the situation worse. But the boy's love for her gave her back her confidence. I don't think alcoholic women are in love with boys. Rather, she found that her vulnerability and desperation had value to another. The boy also inspires his wits as a man by caring for and protecting alcoholic women. An alcoholic woman finds herself needed by another person, and she has the drive to live.
The female teacher falls in love with the male protagonist. The protagonist invites her to dinner after returning to Los Angeles. What could give a woman more motivation to go back alive than this agreement.
In addition, a collective incident, that is, the little girl Diana was stabbed by Toomey, generally gave the kind-hearted people the motivation to go back, especially the captain, the female teacher and the male protagonist had to send her back for treatment.
At this point, the overall situation has been set, life is greater than death. Therefore, everyone's performance was very strong, working together, helping each other, solving problems one by one, and preparing to save themselves and return home.
Toomey was the only one who didn't want to go back. At this point, Diana came into play. Using her psychic powers, she began to summon Toomey. Toomey had hallucinations under the influence of Diana's powerful psychic power, and he met his true fear in a narrow way. This fear inspires great energy. So in his hallucinations he fought to the death of his father and colleagues who were about to devour him. The energy released by Toumi's fear actually played a role in fighting to the death with the attacking Rangoliel, successfully attracting the first wave of monsters and buying time for everyone. Then everyone escaped at the last second of the collapse of Bangor Airport, escaping the swallowing of death.
Toomey's experience is exactly what Diana said before she died. She saw that everything was beautiful, life and death, all very beautiful. It can also be understood that the things that live have their value, and the things that die also have important value. Just like Toomey's death, objectively saved a plane of people.
But things didn't end there. Among the remaining seven people who got on the plane, there was still a heavy energy of death. Although the male protagonist has gained love, his secret has not been told. If he successfully returns, he will still perform the task of killing innocent girls. His sins cannot be washed away. The captain's guilt was not spoken, and he still had to face the death of his ex-wife. When the man who can eat and sleep falls asleep with confidence, the science fiction writer alertly sniffs out the coming of the second death. So, in the second life and death decision, the hero chose to sacrifice himself. His motive is not to save the world, but to wash away his sins. He realized. As he passed through the rift in time, he vanished in sober admiration. That is, it becomes a ray of light and has eternal life. The captain expressed his guilt, and the actor said that your wife will definitely forgive you. The captain escaped the guilt of death. Although the female teacher lost her lover, she shouldered the mission entrusted by her lover to go back and convey this important dying message to her lover's father. Diana, on the other hand, completed her mission and died on the plane. The female teacher not only carried the message of her lover, but also recorded the dying revelation of the godlike Diana. This adds another light to the energy that is born on the plane (the teacher's mission in life is to deliver information and knowledge). Eventually, the plane carried the survivors through the rift to welcome the new life.
When the plane successfully landed at the deserted Los Angeles airport, I actually had some doubts in my mind, I thought it was another crack, and they were about to start the second round of the Rangoliel fight. Just when I secretly admired the author's depth, the film ended with a happy ending to welcome the new life. In fact, I think it is more reasonable for the seven survivors to have a second fight. Because until the end, the energy of death on the plane didn't all go away. There are still people who have not gained enough courage to live. They need another fight to inspire. At least alcoholic women and captains need it. But in the end, I thought about it again, living does not mean enlightenment. As long as everyone has a little more hope and motivation, even if it is only one percent better than death, they can live in the real world. You don't need to be as thoroughly enlightened as Toomey and the male lead. If you are enlightened, you will not live, but eternal life. If you think about it, the ending is reasonable. To live is the rift between eternal life and death. Every living person is experiencing the battle between the will of life and the Rangoliel every second. It's just that the living crack may be wider than Bangor Airport, and it also gives more opportunities and time.
Finally, there are two doubts. The motives and stories of black people are not explained. He died hastily. In addition, the other passengers who disappeared on the plane, where did they go. Apparently, they were neither devoured at Bangor Airport nor immortalized like the hero, nor returned to reality. So it should be another time and space. The film does not explain. One thing is for sure, all the people who have lived in this world cannot disappear for no reason. They always have a reason to live or die, and a place to go.

The sleeping passengers on the plane woke up to find everyone else was gone, but the plane was still in the air. Incredible 3 hours, extremely slow pace, lots of scrap scenes + worst CG special effects in film history. Some of the concepts are interesting, like time decays to being swallowed once it has passed, food has no taste, and heels on the ground don't make a sound. But the whole is rather rough and boring, and Mr. Toomey, who is staring and crying, is really pitiful. Stephen King's cameo is not as pleasant as "export" two Chinese characters.

Where did the plane go? Where did the passengers go?

The Langoliers quotes

  • Nick Hopewell: Shut up!

    [kicking C. Toomey]

    Laurel Stevenson: Stop it!

Don Gaffney: Hey. What'dya hafta do that for?

Nick Hopewell: Now, listen to me... You need waking up, fellows and girls, and I haven't got the time to do this gently! Dinah says something's coming towards us, rather nasty and a rate of knots, and I, for one, believe her! Now, having a knowledge of what it is may not save our lives, but I'm BLOODY sure the lack of it's gonna put an end to us! And SOON!

    [pause]

    Nick Hopewell: Anybody disagree?

    [pause]

    Nick Hopewell: Jolly good.

Nick Hopewell: Now, Mr. Jenkins, pray continue.
