The Alien series is temporarily over. Four aliens, four directors with different styles, each with their strong personal style, so even if each of the alien series is about fighting with aliens, it still has a freshness that is not boring all the way. This film is directed by French director Jean-Pierre Genet, who is also good at films of various themes, such as "Amelie", "Play as You Like It", "The Long Engagement", etc., which are all well-known works. The same is true for an "Alien 4". On the basis of the third part that almost ended the "Alien series", it can very well justify itself, giving the story fresh vitality again.
This film is well done in both the rhythm of the story and the beginning and end of the plot, and it also endows the alien with a "humanity" that the previous films did not have, which enriches the emotional connotation of the whole story. On the surface, the film still maintains the bloody and thrilling style of the Alien series. The section of "Escape in the Water" is very exciting, and the quiet atmosphere in the water adds a touch of weirdness and tension. There are surprises in the mise-en-scene, and a few long shots that explain the environment are impressive. Cole and Ripley, the "female partner", changed the style of highlighting Ripley's personal image before, especially the portrayal of Cole very well, and also gave the "human" factor that was missing in the previous films. The scene after returning to the earth at the end makes people smile helplessly. Who dares to say that the earth will not be like that in a few hundred years? The theme of "environmental protection" suddenly came to the fore, both ironic and thought-provoking.
There are four films, each with its own characteristics, so I like it very much, Ridley Scott's Escape from Confined Space, James Cameron's commercial blockbuster style, David Fincher's suspenseful religious labyrinth Duel, Rene's new aliens with humanity, each of them has something that shines, which is also a great blessing for the "alien".
