The last BIFF I experienced in Beijing was Woody Allen's old black and white film Manhattan as the ending of my last Beijing Film Festival. My first NYFF in Manhattan, the closing film was Woody Allen, his new film "Ferris Wheel". Look, life is a wonder wheel, turning and turning slowly.
The story takes place in Coney Island. I haven't been to Coney Island yet. It is said to be the Beidaihe of New Yorkers. From the movie, it is indeed an exaggerated and superficial American version of Beidaihe. It is bustling with tourists. Dumplings in a pot. It seems necessary to smell the desperate and struggling sea breeze in midsummer. In one sentence, and I've said it many times, old Woody never disappoints: he's as joking as ever to poets, playwrights, actors, directors, self-righteous, neurotic, everything about love, and easily crushed Myself across the screen, every time.
Because I haven't seen all of Woody's films, I can only interpret them narrowly--I'm not a professional film critic anyway--I particularly like two types of his films (there should be more types I'm too lazy to check): A. The absurd film of the dog-blood sprinkler; B. The extremely narcissistic, ruthless and unjust love-talking film (himself and Diane Keaton); and the bloody and talkative A+B.
"Ferris Wheel" belongs to A. Kate is really not suitable to play the B category. Kate is not the kind of mature heart who can play tricks (Diane Keaton is), she has never been in love, she loves life for life, from Titanic is. So for such a story (full of blood), choosing Kate is great. I really hope I can analyze this is a bloody film before watching the movie, but I usually clear my brain before watching a movie.
Old Woody was very greedy this time. He satirized almost all age groups: 15-year-old women, 25-year-old women, 39-year-old women, 20-year-old men, and various middle-aged and elderly men and women... So please don't worry about The film does not see the past or present self. Let's just talk about the role of Kate, obviously she is playing the 39-year-old one. Born in 1975, Kate is not afraid that the years will get into her body and climb up her face, because her eyes are still burning like 20 years old. Her role is also the same. For decades, she has dreamed, regretted betrayal, couldn't forget her old love, was unwilling, compromised, wanted to love, betrayed again, loved again, betrayed again, and hurt again. It didn't matter what the story was, because old Woody was laughing at his whole life. your life.
But why there are still tears in his eyes, because he heard the very distant "You belong to me" in the most inappropriate place, or his ridicule crossed the screen and shattered the proud person again.
I reflected on it, and during the viewing process, I actually wondered whether Kate would collapse or not, whether or not he would jump into the sea. When did Woody give such an ending? How could it be possible? Of course, it was to live in embarrassment, or to live in embarrassment, no matter how broken or decadent it was, it would be of no avail. There is no wonder ever. She ruined the first half of her life, but she still had a bad second half of her life. The reason why he can't get through with him is actually the reason why his eyes are always on fire.
PS If you add ten points to music, add one hundred points to lighting. I love the lighting of this movie so much, I love the lighting of a movie for the first time... The
movie is over, I sit for a while, the old Woody doesn't suddenly appear, I quickly walk into the autumn night in Manhattan.
PPS I love Ferris wheel so much, I feel like my hobby has been teased. Hate.
