What's happened

Indeed, you can also be called a movie for a day without moving against the Empire State Building, and someone will applaud it. But if you are going to use it to sell for money, then somehow make people know what you want to do.
The atmosphere of this movie is indeed the best among the horror films I have seen recently, and my expectations for it are also raised a little bit, and then I just hang on and not let it down.
Many places in this film have not been explained, not only the source of the virus and the method of infection, but also a series of doubts about Julian's inexplicable dislike of Alma and the seemingly perceptive Jess. It feels like it's just a part of a series. I can see that Shyamalan wants to express the concept of environmental protection and human introspection, but since human beings are so dull that you need to use movies to teach you, why not just make it clear.
The only advantage of this movie is that if you remove the subtitles for loop playback, there is no feeling of unsmoothness.

Very anticlimactic, and the result is unintelligible. . . . . American-style theory, in front of nature, is love really that great?

The Happening quotes

  • Principal: [to concerned teachers] Alright, there appears to be an event happening. Central Park was just hit by what seems to be a terrorist attack. They're not clear on the scale yet. It's some kind of airborne chemical toxin that's been released in and around the park. They said to watch for warning signs. The first stage is confused speech. The second stage is physical disorientation, loss of direction. The third stage... is fatal.

  • Julian: Hey, I'm going to tell you something that you should never tell your best friend.

Elliot Moore: Why is everybody saying that?

Julian: [referring to Alma] I saw her on your wedding day.

Elliot Moore: Again with the wedding. What?

Julian: I walked into her waiting room by mistake, and she was crying. She looked up and I saw her face. She wasn't ready to jump in, Elliot. That's not who she is. She's never going to jump in when you need her, man.
