deep in my heart

I heard that Woody Allen's rare dull film is this one.
The first time I saw it, I saw that it had always been a dark cream-colored room, and the characters were also wearing gray clothes and constantly talking. The picture is very refined and concise. But did not understand.
The second time I re-downloaded it, it looked good. I read it halfway through, and then stopped because the people inside seemed to be neurotic. For some reason, the plot is broken.
The third time I watched the second half, I realized that there was a reason they didn't say that supported the whole plot. The reason for this has never been clearly explained, but the audience clearly experienced the inner pain in the hearts of the three daughters.
The final shot ends with a long profile shot of the silent three sisters, all plunged into darkness.

I was deeply moved by this film. Something inside was echoed. The dark room in the film, the gray uninhabited beach, all seem to be experienced. The urge to commit suicide, the rational forbearance, are all lurking in the bland gaze and action.

Woody's rare serious film, the first half of the film is a little out of tune, and the family cups gradually become clearer in the back, but it still feels quite obscure...

Bergman-esque movie~~ I was completely overwhelmed before the red aunt appeared. At the end, the expression on the mother's face before jumping into the river reminded me of Heath Roger... The eyes are oversized and there is no humane woman on the face. There may be some problems if you are strong and dominant at home

Interiors quotes

  • Arthur: Fashionable pessimism is all the rage nowadays.

  • Renata: It's hard to argue that in the face of death, life loses real meaning.

    Pearl: It is?

Renata: Well, I can't argue it succinctly, but if you read Socrates or Buddha or Schopenhauer or even Ecclesiastes, they're very convincing.

Pearl: Well, they should know. I don't read that much.
