Hello Sunshine

The sun shines on Alex's face through the glass, and the picture in his hand is the happiness that has been lost before it is obtained. A murderer who just got out of prison, a father who lost his son, a man with no one to talk to, this man is sad and lonely.

Vivienne is a ray of sunshine that shines into the restaurant. She looks avant-garde and casual, but her heart is meticulous and gentle. She has a generous understanding of different individuals, dreams, laughter, youth, and all good things. However, the light went out in an instant, and for Alex, it was a repeat of the nightmarish reality.

Alex still feels deep guilt because Vivienne took his car. He hated the truck driver who caused the accident, and he hated God's will to fool people. The same situation made him want to visit Vivienne's mother.

But unlike a sad Alex, Linda doesn't seem to care about Vivienne's death. She still lives in her own world, maintains a spotless home, sings so loudly, and gets carried away with joy at the sight of glitter balls.

But autistics are by no means synonymous with fools. Beneath Linda's crazy exterior, there is the brilliance of a transparent and philosophical soul. She understood her daughter's original thoughts, "Lonely people have the best stories." She didn't blame Alex at all, "You let her take your car, I should thank you." In her world, she still laughs when she can laugh. Will laugh, blindly entangled in what has been lost, does not help. "She died, we should all forget about it."

She missed her daughter in her own way. She was going to build a grotesque snowman, as she always did when Vivienne was around; she lingered in Vivienne's room, running her hand over the fluffy comforter and putting on her daughter's boots; she played with her daughter's gift; The dance... not to evoke worry, but to regain the joy of being with Vivienne.

Alex was infected with this unique emotion, and he gradually opened up his deeply buried pain. The lover whispered in his ear, the puppy tamely crouched at his feet, and his heart, which was frozen in winter, slowly melted.

Although Vivienne is dead, her shadow is everywhere in the film. At the funeral, the novel she wrote that her grandfather read aloud can be used as the key to the film. She appears to be writing about a four-year-old boy, "younger brother," but it's actually her mother. To understand a person and love a person is not to change him, but to respect and share his unique life and world.

When the snow melts, it becomes spring. Alex himself finally became the sunshine in the hearts of others. He shines in the eyes of lovers, in the tight embrace of a friend, in that wonderful cake made of snow.

At the end of the film, Alex embarks on a journey again. Snow still covered the earth, but it was filled with warm sunshine. The world is so vast and wonderful, people are so small, and life is full of expectations again.

Vivienne's favorite Super Furry Animals have been singing:

Hello sunshine
Come into my life…

Hello, sunshine.

Perfectamundo! I especially like the part where Linda and Alex are playing scrabble and Dazlious's repetition at the end/snow cake is so warm/Sorry if it was a bit quick and laughed out loud/the guy selling glasses said love your accent/The driver's seat is only reflected when you open the right door On the left hhh / I also want to walk into a restaurant and see AR reading a book, stop by the side of the road and meet AR to stop, I want to hug AR more

Snow Cake quotes

  • Linda Freeman: B-A-A-N-G.

Alex Hughes: You can't have two A's in bang.

Linda Freeman: In Comic Book Word Scrabble, you can. You can have three A's if you want.

  • Alex Hughes: Being with you. Being with Linda. Being with myself again. Hey, and I'm having sex and these muffins are great. That sort of thing.
