When I watched the film, I didn't know that this was a script changed from the memoir, thinking that the writer and director were using a completely exaggerated and mocking language to describe the environment and pressure of modern people's survival. I didn't know it until the end of the film, but it happened, and it felt absurd between the surprises.
Annette Bening, who plays the heroine in the play, shines brightly, and the tension and exaggerated drama of this character also provide her with an excellent platform to show her acting skills. Especially when Augusten said goodbye to him at the end, from her joy when she saw her son to tears, her emotional level was progressive and clear, but it was done in one go, and she was accurate and admirable.
