Film Selection Transfer - The Trial - "The Choice and Creation of Adaptation"

As a film from 50 years ago, gossip scripts and exaggerated dramatic performances are inevitable, and the handling of certain plots cannot satisfy everyone. Apart from these era and personal factors, it has to be said that this is still the case. It is a responsible and outstanding adaptation, especially the absurd, anxious, mysterious and expressionistic temperament of the original work, which is enough to satisfy the readers of the original work. A film that combined these elements was definitely a very bold, advanced, and experimental work at the time. The film reorders and enriches the originally disjointed chapters, which greatly increases the coherence, and has the courage to integrate into personal interpretation, focusing the theme of the story on the indictment of the deformed and corrupt legal system and the personal struggle with no hesitation, which is easy to express through video. , complete and concise, and this theme resonates to a certain extent with the experiences and emotions of the director himself, which is probably one reason why Wells calls it his best work. In addition, there are amazing master-level editing, scheduling, photography and lighting, which can be seen in macro and details. All in all, it was a good start for my first black and white film.

A work of genius! There has never been such a visual experience, and the scene has never been seen by other directors. The legal status quo described by Kafka is similar to that of our country today, so the various encounters of the male protagonist are not unfamiliar to the Chinese. The solution at the end is very natural, and the director finally released our two hours of depression.

The frenzied display of skills, the usual arrogant and arrogant tone in Welles movies, is really hard to like. He may feel like he is playing God.

The Trial quotes

  • Joseph K.: I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'm afraid you won't find any subversive literature or pornography. Don't touch those record albums!

First Assistant Inspector: What's this thing?

Joseph K.: That's my pornograph - my phonograph.

  • Second Assistant Inspector: What's this?

    Joseph K.: What's what?

Second Assistant Inspector: A circular line with four holes.

First Assistant Inspector: A circular line...

Second Assistant Inspector: No, it's not really circular. It's more ovular.

Joseph K.: Don't write that down...

    Second Assistant Inspector: Ovular!

    Joseph K.: For Pete's sake.

    Second Assistant Inspector: Why not?

    Joseph K.: Ovular?

First Assistant Inspector: We can't not write it down just because you say we shouldn't.

    Joseph K.: Ovular isn't even a word.

Second Assistant Inspector: Do you deny there's an ovular shape concealed under this rug?

First Assistant Inspector: He denies everything!
