Typical Hollywood style, strong personal heroism.
In terms of the plot, Americans are capable of sex. Not to mention the collective defection of Soviet national treasure-class officers, how can that ordinary American submarine easily track the super new weapon "Red October"? There is also the clumsiness of Soviet diplomats, the internal friction and weakness of the Soviet army, if it is really so vulnerable, would it be worth the Cold War?
I still didn't feel how scheming the Captain Connery was, nor did I understand why he didn't contact the United States directly, but notified the Soviet side before setting off (does it need to be so ruined?). This trick is too risky, there should be a better way. It was Baldwin's intelligence agent who made the first contribution, turning the tide from time to time, until the spy was killed in the end, which was fake to a certain extent.
