Chase and your rivals

This film is aimed at AB. He still continues the melancholy and affectionate style in it, but he is a little more alienated, and he drives his feet sadly but not sadly. The film is about a microcosm of the prehistory of the blues. The owner of Chess Records, Odnachess, supports singers one by one. The singers change from red to purple, from purple to black, and the ups and downs of a record company.

It's an espresso that's concentrated on sex, drugs, and racial issues. But there are also sugar, affection, dreams, brilliance.

When Chase was rolling on the sofa with his girlfriend, the girl kept asking when we would get married. I thought AB was going to play a scumbag. Chez is a Polish, poor boy, hated by his girlfriend's father, and then opened a bar in a black area, and his father thought he was crazy. But from this step, Chase embarked on the road to riches, and a legendary life.

In the first three-quarters of the film, Chase's characters are very flat, business-minded, accurate in seeing people, calm in dealing with things, a good family man, a singer who has stayed at Chase Records for a longer time, and a Cadillac.

Love AB and love the character, but he doesn't seem to come alive until the second quarter of the movie. Because of the appearance of a person, Etjan, the only female singer in the movie, played by Beyonce, yes, the Beyonce who sang. This man, leave it to the end.

Chase and the singer not only have a good business relationship, but also have an unspoken friendship. It is the love and affection that can sustain people the most. But the relationship between Bole and Maxima will be turned into a relationship between a pimp and a prostitute by time, money, differences, and demons. The former saw the passion, while the latter could only comfort himself and say, this is the world. The "opposite scene" between Chase and these singers is my favorite part of the whole film. It is very smooth and simple, and each has its own flavor.

The most fleshed out character is Maddie Waters. Chase was the first black singer to sign.

A farmer on a plantation in Mississippi, because one day a record company went there to collect songs and asked him to record a song. He said it was like the first time he heard his own voice. A vinyl record on an endless field, he was intoxicated by his own voice, and then walked out of the field. That back is the most beautiful scene in the movie, no one.

His role is very heavy, and he runs through the beginning and end like Chase. There are dreams and talents, but they are intoxicated, good women, self-aware, and grateful. This is Madi. Maddy handles his delicate relationship with Chase well. There are four scenes, which I think are good.

The first was when he was a little down, he asked Chase for royalties and said he couldn't afford the house. Chase said the car wasn't free, he'd take care of the house. Maddie asked for nothing more. This is the tacit understanding of these two people, and the next few singers will definitely turn the table, because Chez's performance in front of him is like "the car is a free gift". In addition, Chase said he would take care of the house, and Maddy believed him, which was also a tacit understanding.

The second is that the newcomer Chuck became popular, and Maddy asked Chase for money. At this time, Maddy knew that his records were completely unsalable. Chase pulled Maddie aside and said, "You're always number one in my dictionary." The scene is quite an understatement, but a three-pointer.

The third is that Maddy bumped into Chase and Eat Jane about to roll the floor, then Maddy withdrew, and Chase chased after them. It was the first time the two quarreled. Maddy probably always felt that Chase and his wife were a model couple, which violated the image of Chase in his mind. Then when Chase said that he had feelings for Itzhen, he said fart. Chase is angry, i fuck her, i fuck chuck, i fuck you, that is what your think? I think what Chase is most worried about is that everyone simplified their relationship into a money relationship. But is Chase? It's you Maddy's not here now. But each of you came to question him like that. If there are no new people and no new blood, Chez Records will get out. It's such a simple truth, but several singers before and after take Chez's behavior as a love of the new and hate the old. But old Maddie got it, he said, that's what the blues are all about. Then go. This is my favorite scene in the whole movie.

The fourth was when Maddy buried Litt Walter with blue flannel lining the coffin, which he said would make him look taller, and put his harmonica in his jacket pocket. Sometimes he's like Walter's dad. Poke tears again, old Maddie is the king of tears.

Lit Walter, the second singer signed, labels him as impulsive, cherishing dreams, and being a child. He would shoot at people for someone on the side of the road pretending to be his name. But his cherishing of dreams is something that no one here can keep up with. It is the scene where his mother died. He is as aggrieved and tenacious. No one here can keep up. This is a particularly distressing child.

One of Chuck Berry's most famous lines is "It belongs to me, but I don't belong to it." He said this to Chase when he came to the company the day before, pointing to his broken car. It's eye-catching, you know, besides him, everyone has a Cadillac. You are slaves to vanity, but I am not. This sex, like.

It's Jane, honestly, I really can't love this character that almost everyone loves. (I really don't want to see Chase tempted by her... Is your wife better Chase?) Well, the wife who played too little has turned into a housewife. Perhaps the inner worlds of Etjan and Chase are closer.

She is the child of a white father and a black mother. Her mother is a prostitute. The father has never recognized this daughter. The famous daughter's furniture was also sold by the mother in various ways. I don't know if Chase is compassionate or really in love with this talented but insecure woman. He coaxed Yitzhen, who overdose while crying and babbling, and that was the most moving part of the whole film. She makes him love and conflict at the end of the film because Etjean and old Maddie quarrel.

Rory recounted the most shining part of each person's personality, and it was these feelings that made the movie flesh and blood. Everyone's appearance time is limited because the film is biographical, but everyone can be remembered, which is where the character building succeeds.

Although there are some jumps in the narrative, it will not be abrupt. Some major events are very touching, the rhythm is good, and it will not be boring or sleepy.

Overall, it's a good movie, and I, who don't like blues, can also be moved by the narrative and characters. A lot of people who love the blues can give four stars for the music alone.

As a biographical film, it can accurately outline the appearance of the era at that time, let us see the spirit of that era, and be moved, I think it is a success. "We are the sowers" at the end of the film, who influenced the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, and others, ushered in a new era, but their lives were legendary and messed up.

Four star recommendation.

Cadillac Records quotes

  • Willie Dixon: [as a narrator] When you lose that cat that gave you the sound that nobody else could, it hurts. Hurts more than losing your woman.

  • Muddy Waters: Now, let me talk this peckerwood out of calling the cops.
