Revolution is not a dinner party

To be honest, the adaptation of this cartoon is not very good. The dubbing and vivid images are all very good, but it fails to show the spirit of the original work.
First of all, the characters have been weakened, just to promote the development of the plot, many details of the novel are missing. Moses as a religious symbol disappeared. Benjamin's cynical attitude can't be seen. He just thinks that Benjamin is a model worker like a boxer, but his ability is almost inferior.
The most important thing is Snowball and Napoleon's character, it seems that Napoleon was the bad guy from the beginning, Snowball serves the people. Then the meaning of the work is reduced. It seems that the failure of the revolution is only because the careerists usurped the fruits of the revolution. If the snowball is still in power, the farm will be better. But I believe that Napoleon changed because he tasted the sweetness of power, so what the work criticizes is not the individual but the system.
This naturally extends to the end of the film. In the biggest adaptation of the original work, the animals rebelled again. It seems that the overthrow of Napoleon can change the farm, but it has entered an infinite loop. What has changed in the end after each revolution. Rather, people are immersed in this society as in the original book, not knowing whether it is better or worse than the past, falling into endless hopelessness.

The kids in my class will definitely put this in the bean list of "the cult movies I watched when I was a kid, don't ask me why the teacher asked us to watch it"!

The story itself is very classic, anyway, you see, history always loops.

Animal Farm quotes

  • Napoleon: Loyal followers, on farms owned and operated by pigs, there is order and discipline. Own lower animals do more work and eat less than other on farms.

    [gives medals]

Napoleon: With this, we encourage you to make your lower animals work even harder and eat even less! To a greater Animal Farm! For peace and plenty under pig rule!

[Benjamin, outside imagines Napoleon's face assimilating that of Jones; he suddenly sees through the resemblance]

Napoleon: To the day when pigs own and operate farms EVERYWHERE!

    [applause]

  • Narration Spoken by: And that night the pigs drank to Boxer's memory, in the whisky they had bought with Boxer's life.
