Three people who didn't know each other at the beginning formed a fake family, a fake husband, a fake wife, and a fake daughter, all to escape. In the eyes of the French, these Sri Lankans are basically the same, anyway, they are all foreigners. The discomfort at the beginning gradually calmed down, put aside the pain of the past war, and settled down in the local area. They worked hard and the war was over. For them, although it was a foreign country, although the people around them had nothing to do with it, But now, they are family. But every country is not perfect, and the peace does not last long. They were involved in gang conflicts and fell into chaos again... In the last ten minutes of the movie, Dupin used his skilled killing skills to save the family, Yarini With his own tenderness, Dipan was brought back, from the killer to the husband who protects the family. In the end, Dupin drove a British cab, and lived a new life with his wife, daughter, and newborn baby, who had become a reality. The whole film seems to be a little dull, but it can still be watched, and everything is made reasonable. A fake family, a real hope.

7/10. The director's construction of immigrant discourse narrative no longer simply focuses on the presentation of immigrant group life or the discovery of nationality, and explores the common motifs deep in human nature, such as family affection and homeland, and integrates into the fate of life that will always be invaded by violence. The tense plot setting and action conflict, and the happy ending of the hero and heroine becoming the mainstream (middle class) of society makes the audience feel relieved. The shiny Mickey headpiece in the opening space transition is hilarious.

Dheepan quotes

  • Dheepan: The war is not over, but for me... it's over.

  • Yalini: In Sri Lanka when you fall and you hurt yourself, you smile. Here, if you smile too much, people think that you don't understand them or that you're mocking them.
