The director's restraint and reflection is exactly what we need

After watching "The Isle of Ute", I feel uneasy. In the face of such a disaster, dozens of innocent lives have been lost suddenly, and no one can rest in peace, especially the families of the victims. However, when the Norwegian director made this film, he did not focus on the relatives who were robbing the sky, nor the perpetrators of the massacre, and even the murderer did not show up, which is incomprehensible in the eyes of the Chinese. But the director is like a faithful recorder. Except for a few main characters who strung the film together, he did not add too much personal emotion. This restraint is precisely what I appreciate and is also the place of success.

The whole film can be viewed as a documentary. It may be a little worse in shaping the characters, but it is no worse than the effect of exaggeration in terms of attracting reflection. On the contrary, it feels more shocking. The panic of the students and the harsh and sadistic gunshots brought the audience into this situation, which is the most powerful accusation and condemnation in itself, without the director's overexpression. If a Chinese director were envisaged, would the focus be on the murder of the suspect and the grief of the family? How many of these movies have we seen? Maybe people's restraint is exactly what we need. It is easy to show suffering and can urge the audience to cry, but reflecting on suffering is what we should pay more attention to.
