I just remember the face of that Indian girl

I had contact with this animation at an earlier time. That experience did not leave me too much impression. I just remembered the image of the girl in it. Maybe it was the same as the Hua Mulan in my impression at the time. The image is similar, so I made a note of this face.
The name of the film "Pocahontas" (Pocahontas) is the name of the heroine in the film. She is the daughter of the Indian chief and is equivalent to the princess in the status of the locals. The historical background of the film is in the time of James I of England, when the British first landed on the American continent. However, this film does not involve real historical events, it is entirely a story created based on that period of history. In this way, "Gold Digger from Britain" and "Bao Jia Kangti" have become the two main lines of the story. The main line of the British "gold digger" (I wanted to say "colonial", but from the meaning of the film does not seem to have reached this level) is summarized as: come to America with hope -> struggling to explore and mine -> Disappointment->Returning to China is as simple as that. The focus of the film is on another main line, namely the main line of the Indian girl Bao Jia Kangti's plot.
Pocahontas is by no means an ordinary Indian girl. The tribe she is in hopes that she can marry Gao Gang, the recognized first warrior of the tribe, but Baojia Conti has her own ideas. When the people of the tribe have to fight to the death with the foreign whites, she is the only one who hopes to let these whites go back through persuasion. Sticking to one's own path has become the biggest theme of the film. Although Pocahontas herself had been confused, in the end she persisted in her choice, and the final result also showed that her choice was correct.
Let’s talk about the white man John Smith met by Pocahontas. He is a character with dual characteristics throughout the film. Among the British who came, John was the most powerful one under the captain, but after he came to America to meet Pocahontas, both sides were moved by each other. Perhaps it is precisely because of the male protagonist that makes people feel that the film is very similar to "Avatar". However, John was never accepted by the Indian tribes apart from being with Pocahontas, and he did not actually lose the trust of either party. Even the British had infighted before the war began. All of these made the film never go to war at the end, but this did not leave John a chance to become a hero. For an animation of this nature, this seems to be enough. If you continue to go deeper, it may make the plot more cruel, but I think that giving John some more complicated and tortuous experiences should make the plot further.
Gao Gang, as the only person who died in the film, seems a bit cruel. After all, according to the definition of a perfect ending, such a person should not die. However, Gao Gang’s death in the film seems to have a special meaning. On the one hand, his death became the fuse of the war between the two sides. On the other hand, it was about the heroine. He was the first person to discover the secret between Baojiaconti and John ( It just didn’t take long for him to hang up), so it doesn’t seem difficult to understand why the film made him die. The captain, as the only villain in the film, later became thin. In the end, a slightly regrettable ending was left: the two protagonists and heroines did not go together in the end. This ending may be deliberately creating a flawed beauty, or it may be foreshadowing the sequel.
It is worth mentioning that the soundtrack of this film, thanks to the excellent arrangement of Alan Menken, the soundtrack of this film fully deserves the title of "Sound of Nature". The film continues the musical style of Disney animation, using songs to show the plot at key points. Especially the theme song of the film "Colors Of The Wind" is the kind of melody that has been hard to forget since it was heard, and it is easier to get into people's hearts than the melody of the lyrics and music itself. Several other soundtracks are also types that are easy to remember after they are heard.
The film’s evaluation on imdb is not high (6.0, which is relatively low in Disney animation). I have not always understood this point. I don’t know if it’s because of a deviation from history or because of some weaknesses in the plot. (There are also some people on imdb. I think this film is underestimated), but this does not affect my evaluation at all, I am still willing to give it a good comment.

PS: Although the Chinese dubbing of this film has stars such as Xin Xiaoqi and Andy Lau, the bad thing is the poor translation of the lines. I really can’t bear to hear the name "Zhuang Maisi" Like Chinese names, they are British). Regrettably, this is currently the only Chinese dubbing. The dubbing version that was used last time when the CCTV "Gap of Good Films" was broadcast was not re-dubbed. It should be said that I still hope to have a new dubbing version, and the lines can be translated again in this version.

As a result, it was neither the hero nor the heroine who stopped the war, but the empathetic chief father and the little sailor who turned back from the prodigal son. After all, the relationship of the one-night rendezvous failed to withstand the test of long-distance love, and in the sequel, the two broke up...

I like the style of the movie very much. I like the style of the movie. The characters are plump, the heart is delineated, and the heart is delicate. The soundtrack and the voice of the characters are all good to listen to. Even people like me who are very obtuse about music are very moved. The words and songs of Granny Willow had a great influence on me. She was so kind. .

Pocahontas quotes

  • Powhatan: My daughter speaks with the wisdom beyond her years. We've all come here with anger in our hearts, but she comes with courage and understanding. From this day forward, if there is to be more killing, it will not start with me.

  • Kocoum: Nakoma, where is Pocahontas?

    Nakoma: I-I haven't seen her.

Kocoum: Pocahontas can't keep running off. It's dangerous out there. Tell her that. She listens to you.

Nakoma: [sarcastically to herself] Huh. Sure she does.
