"The Years of Love" can be said to be a movie of the handsome Brad Pitt alone. His unique temperament and courage have been brought to the extreme and will never be surpassed. Anthony Hopkins is getting older and stronger, and his acting is impeccable. I was particularly surprised by Julia Ormond. She has a good grasp of complex emotions. It was their wonderful performance that made Brad Pitt and "The Years of Love".
This is a classic romance movie. The three brothers fell in love with a woman at the same time. How will they face each other? The director is very affectionate, he made everyone experience pain and suffering, except for Samuel, who died young. Tristan felt guilty for Samuel's death all his life. Even though he did his best, the trauma of the war has cast a deep shadow in his heart. As a result, he could not accept Susannah's love, so he left his hometown and wandered around the world. Alfred's love is restrained and persistent. From the first sight of Susannah to her suicide, he always loved her. When Tristan gave up Susannah, he knew that she still loved Tristan, but he married her and loved her with all his heart, although he couldn't get her heart. Susannah is unfortunate, first Samuel's death, and then Tristan's departure, which completely broke her. Although she was married to Alfred, she never forgot Tristan. He was her fate, she died for him, and suicide was an explosion of long-term depressed emotions.
This reminds me of another movie, "The Love of the River", where Brad Pitt is still wild and unruly, but he doesn't have the passion of "The Years of Love". Now that the people who have watched this old film are old, those passionate years are gone, do we still have passion?
