beauty, or violence.

This is my second time watching this movie.

This time, I deeply felt the alternative violent aesthetics of Kitano Takeshi.

The film doesn't have the violence that people routinely define: gore, killing, gunfights, rape, abuse.
It is a reversal of Kitano Takeshi's previous violent movies, which are beautiful, mournful, and extraordinary.
But he said it was the most violent film he had ever made.
Perhaps, with the exception of tender films such as "Kijiro's Summer", Kitano Takeshi has never given up his violent aesthetics, no matter how it is expressed.

So let's take a look at how he achieves his violent aesthetic in this film.

First of all, this is the real "beautiful" violence: beautiful images that are not overlooked for a second (summer beaches and autumn maple leaves, gorgeous costumes and bright color contrasts), beautiful scenes that are saddened (more than tear-jerking) The touching Korean drama is even more tear-jerking and touching), and the perfect soundtrack that tugs at the heartstrings (Japanese soundtrack master Joe Hisaishi is a world-recognized creator of beautiful music).

However, this is also the beauty of true "violence": all perfection is destroyed in front of your eyes, as if an invisible executioner stretched out his dark hand behind the scenes to kill all happiness and hope.
In the story of conjoined beggars, the mentally disturbed woman finally recognized her lover, but in the next minute, she and her lover rolled down the cliff, and the two were hanged from a tree branch on each end.
In the story of the gangster boss, the old gangster finally found his young lover. The prelude to a good life was about to start, but he was shot and killed by the Avengers in the path.
In the story of a blind fan, because of his blindness, he was finally able to enjoy the roses in the garden with the idol he admired in his heart. Floral fragrance of happiness and hope. But later, he died suddenly on the side of the road in a traffic accident.

It was Mr. Lu Xun who said that tragedy is to destroy the most beautiful things for others to see.
And this kind of destruction, in Kitano Takeshi's view, is undoubtedly the most chilling kind of violence.

There is always a tinge of blood red in the picture, and hope and despair coexist forever.

Sadly scared to death, many people gave five stars, but I really can’t keep up with Kitano Takeshi’s expression. My goddess Miho and Uncle Nishishima were tossed into those ghosts. I really wanted to kneel down, but luckily there was no If the three stories are told separately, it would be vulgar. Finally, Joe Hisaishi’s music is great
