not easy to understand

To be honest, I didn't get it. The plot is easy to understand: A policeman is lured to an isolated island and killed by a religious ritual as a sacrifice.

But the religious meaning in it is not something I can understand, and it wasn't originally made for the Chinese people to see. For example, what does the bee represent in the film, what does the hive represent, what is the meaning of the social structure of the matriarchal line, and what are the origins of the various methods of killing? Not understanding this is like not knowing why the Chinese let the bride cross the brazier. I searched and found nothing of value. I found some English explanations, but I couldn't decipher it because of the difficult nouns. I really wanted to see an explanation from someone, so I didn't write this movie for nearly two weeks. But still blank.

——From this point of view, it can be seen that many critics and many websites have not done their job of reflecting the role of film culture in spreading, and they just copied the synopsis of the film who did not know who wrote it.

Some people say that Nicolas Cage's performance in the film is not good, it's like a dream, I don't think so. Dreaming is what his role needs. This is a policeman who each thinks he can control the situation. Years of exposure and the unforgettable car accident have made him no longer the fierce young man who joined the police force at the beginning of the year. How can you ask him to be precise and energetic. ? Standing at thirty and standing at forty without confusion is the self-dreaming of Confucian sages (idlers).

That said, if you're not a fan of Western religious sects, and if you don't have to see Cage to fall asleep, I advise you not to watch it.

    Why doesn't it feel suspenseful at all? . . . . .

I watched it together with Al, and the ending was a movie that I couldn't understand after watching it over and over again. The movie of the two of us will never be understood by anyone in the future. …

The Wicker Man quotes

  • Sister Rose: [Malus interrupts her school lesson] I was unaware any of my girls needed arresting.

Edward Malus: They don't, no. I'm just up here to find a missing girl whom people are pretending doesn't exist.

Sister Rose: How quixotic of you.

    Edward Malus: Quixotic?

Sister Rose: From "Don Quixote"; pursuer of lofty but impractical ideals.

  • Edward Malus: What is the Day of Death and Rebirth?

Sister Willow: It's a story. That's all it is; a story.

Edward Malus: Look, I'm trying to trust you here, but every time I turn my head, there's something that doesn't make any sense.

Sister Willow: Well, I'm frightened of this place, too. I was happy to leave here when I did. Even though I came back, I wish I hadn't. I wish that I stayed and made a life with you, been with you all these years, but I didn't.
