On February 2, 1979, the British SUN newspaper headline: "Punk star Sid Vicious dies of drug overdose." Sid Vicious was the bass guitarist of the London punk band SEX PISTOLS (Sex Pistols), his girlfriend Nancy Spungen four months ago The body was found in the hotel. They were only 22 and 20 when they died. Rage, anger, trash, subversion, radicalism, exposure... typical anarchism, can be used to describe the punk music era led by SEX PISTOLS, the band only lasted 26 months and released their only album: Never mind the bollocks.
The film was released in 1986, and it is said that the drug use and sex scenes were too realistic and were banned in many countries. But when I saw it, I knew it wasn't.
This city lotus is a replica of Sid. There is no doubt that Lian's appearance, position in the band, and the Nanjing Suodu worn around her neck are almost the same as Sid's, and Zhilian's possible drug-taking life is also similar to Sid's. However, it is doubtful whether Nancy is the prototype of Nana. I don't think it is, or I hope it is not.
After reading their stories, I feel conflicted. Although I think we should respect the possibility of each person choosing a different way of life, I sometimes feel that this confuses my judgment on right and wrong.
What kind of choice did Sid and Nancy make together? I can't even conclude if their coexistence is because of love. While thinking that Sid and Nancy should be rescued and separated, I feel like I've imposed it on others of my own will, depriving them of another possibility in their lives. I feel that this kind of confusion and tolerance will make me passive and confused, but I also believe that these confusions will one day disappear. This is probably an inertia of my thinking pattern, not sure if it is correct or not.
I originally watched this film to see the prototype, so although I know there are some differences with the real thing, I think I still saw a relatively real lotus after all.
