Love and revenge?

A novel I read many years ago, today I relive it in the form of a movie. The content is probably about the story that happened between Heathcliff, the adopted son of Wuthering Heights, and Casey, the daughter of the owner of the villa, as well as the story that extends from this generation to the next. The core of the whole film is love and revenge. After reading it, it feels like two lovers are married after death? There are no other deep feelings. The film starts with tourists sheltering from the rain staying overnight in the villa, which leads to the narrative of the past story, which has a bit of multiple story meanings. The lines of the characters are very beautiful, and they express their feelings straight to the point without being greasy.

2018.03.30 The screenwriter's choice is completely incomprehensible. On the one hand, he cut down almost all the plots except Heathcliff and Catherine (the big and small Linton became the first passerby), on the other hand, he deleted the most touching Heathcliff, who burst into tears and opened the window to call. The passage of Catherine's comeback. Although I am very dissatisfied with the character modeling in this film, the acting skills of the two are still very good, but the image of Binoche is really not suitable for acting as a girl.

Ralph Fiennes is so handsome I can't describe it in words, he fits the role of Heathcliff so well. But for one thing, I don't see anything to love about Katherine, whether it's the book or the movie.

Wuthering Heights quotes

  • Heathcliff: Misery and degradation and death and nothing that God or Satan could inflict would have parted us, you of your own will, did it. I have not broken your heart - you have broken it; and in breaking it, you have broken mine.

  • Heathcliff: Why did you betray your own heart, Cathy? You loved me. And what right had you to leave me? The poor fancy you felt for Linton? Nothing that God or Satan could inflict would have parted us. You of your own will did it. I've not broken your heart Cathy, you have broken it. And in breaking it, you've broken mine.
