"Chain Saw 4": Start at the end
■ Wen/Vulcan

In my opinion, the "Saw" series successfully created a killing myth centered on Jigsaw, with the slogan of cherishing life, and the theme of redemption. . If it is said that the first three are not enough to fulfill this myth; then, the fourth one completely constructed the grand blueprint of the entire myth story with its perfect lore.
Everything is beautiful; it's just that this one is a bit bloody. ——Vulcan Ji. Inscription.

The film began at the autopsy site of Jigsaw, with completely open craniotomy, laparotomy, breast sawing, visceral removal and other scenes; thinking about it, the notorious notoriety before gave them more arrogant and crazy courage. Excessive blood, excessive cruelty; it was the first feeling I gave me at the beginning of this movie. However, as a loyal fan of niche movies; I like the taste of killing. But I still feel a bit chilly on my back. Excessive blood and cruelty are not excessive to describe this movie.
Who said, I am dead; my career ends here. No one can escape punishment, a new game has begun. This is the general meaning of the tape that remained in the stomach after the death of Jigsaw, played by Tobin Bell. I have always liked this series; maybe, after this one, this fascination will abruptly cease. I don't know why, now I can't find the crazy feeling I have had before watching this movie.

Perhaps, I am still obsessed with the various new and weird killing methods in this movie that retain the Jigsaw style; but the Jigsaw seen in this movie has been over-deified and the whole story seems unbelievable. Why do you like the "Saw" series, because it uses visual impact as its primary purpose for an unprecedented time, killing people in all kinds of absurd but beautifully set up methods, and conducting a near-paranoid trial in the name of punishment. Self-rescue, a futile struggle with death as the end...the criminals who are guilty and at large will be punished privately; unless they give up, they can only die.
This is an important choice concerning human nature. Almost all people died in the exquisite mechanism designed by Jigsaw. No one can really give up and survive. And the few people who survived, all became faithful believers of Jigsaw. Perhaps, because I have faced the most terrible choice; so I understand the meaning of life. It was precisely because Jigsaw gave them the meaning of life, so they decided to faithfully follow the left and right to complete his great work of salvation.

How much a person can do after he dies, this seems to be exactly what this movie wants to tell us. Jigsaw's spirit wants to be immortal and to continue his unfinished mission and uncompetitive career. His top priority is to find a successor who is as cynical as him and capable of precise design. The search for successors seems to have not stopped since the third part of "Saw"; however, there are not many people who are cynical and extremely intelligent.
It seems that Jigsaw can't be troubled; choose someone who is extremely intelligent and a sense of justice, and then make him a cynical guy. In the last episode, Amanda played by Shawnee Smith failed the test. In this episode, Detective Rigg played by Lyriq Bent was the last choice of Jigsaw. Can you complete all the tests and become the next Jigsaw?

The two people who survived Jigsaw's survival game completed all the designs that Jigsaw carefully planned. It may not be difficult to kill everyone around Rigg one by one, creating a cynical person in this way. The final design is to allow Rigg to complete several designs that have not been completed by himself, provide the designed props, and provide the sinners that Rigg hates; let Rigg complete the execution of the executor.
Feel what I feel; such a ridiculous way may really play a role. The partner he used to work with was in danger. In order to rescue his colleagues, Rigg had to follow Jigsaw's design step by step. Anger, execution; yes, he just went on like this. Killing people in a way that has never killed people, the slain is the most beautiful excuse to die on their own without having to bear the condemnation of their conscience, and thus become the righteous king.
At the end of the movie, the scene suddenly fell. Rigg was not a qualified follower. Instead, his colleague who was taken away and put in the design turned the tide and became the continuation. The second generation of Jigsaw in the last design completely repeated the design in the first part, placing himself in the center of the game and watching the development of the situation with a cold eye, and finally said a word to end the game in a earnest way.

This kind of ending seems to be somewhat self-smashing and difficult to stand up; and it is somewhat aesthetically fatigued, because it seems that repetition is not allowed in this series. At least before this, every design of Jigsaw has not been repeated.
This is a follow-up with a prequel character; interrogating John's ex-wife Jill intermittently to piece together a complete Jigsaw. Why began to be cynical, why began to punish the world, why should we warn people to cherish their lives in such a cruel way. This movie gave a complete response.

From the perspective of inheritance, this is a successful film; because it has completed a periodic defection. The inheritance ended with the end of the first part, and created a second generation that was not enough to attract people; while inheriting, it also completed what the prequel should do. It explained the transformation from John to Jigsaw.
From a formal point of view, this is another failed movie. As I said at the beginning, excessive blood and cruelty have become the crazy behavior of this movie; the repetition in form has basically subverted the continued good reputation of this series of movies.
The logical incomprehension may be the biggest culprit of this movie, because I have been watching it and finally understand the plot setting of the whole movie; if it weren’t because the previous three movies gave me a very high impression, if It's not because this movie still retains its powerful visual style, maybe it will completely wipe out my patience before I can understand it.

Explain the madness of Jigsaw with love. The compassion for his wife, the love for the children who died before they were born, and the fraternity for the homeless; so the helplessness and pain of being betrayed aggravated his madness. Therefore, the object of his first punishment was the addict who robbed the rescue clinic opened by him and his wife for greedy desire and caused his wife's miscarriage.
Give up and get a new life. To some extent, this design does not actually have much chance of escape. Emotionally, I might be able to accept his behavior pattern; but intellectually, I cannot accept it completely. Perhaps this is also the root cause of the dramatic decline in the movie-watching experience brought to me by this series of films.

Starting at the end, what will this series be like? Start by ending, and this movie does exactly that. However, how to proceed. Further down, maybe the aesthetic fatigue really begins. It can be said that the expected value of "Saw" 5 which will be released next year is far less than the expected value of 4 when I finished watching "Saw" 3 last year.
This movie completes a myth; a myth about murder after death. That's it. And then; successor, in fact, there is no way. In other words, it can only be the endless obscenity of this myth. That might not be interesting.

Of course, Hollywood screenwriters can sometimes bring us some surprises. However, like this series of movies, perhaps the most difficult thing to imagine is not how to arrange the subsequent plot; it is how to rack your brains to design a more shocking and iconic killing mode. In view of the unexpected repetition of this movie, it may not be so easy to shoot new ideas for later works.
Start at the end, start at the end. I was thinking that sometimes it ends where it should end; maybe it will be a better choice.

Dian 4 supplemented the first three chainsaws, explaining why a few policemen intervened and ended up hanging up, or explaining those themes. Through the mouth of jigsaw’s ex-wife, it can be seen that jigsaw’s mentality has changed after experiencing the pain of losing a child, being in a car accident, and rebirth from cancer, and why he designed such a game to warn people who waste time to cherish their lives. 7.6
