Countryman's Elegy

First, let me explain that I watched the movie first, and then read the novel. Before reading the novel, I thought it was a story about the original family and self-growth, but after reading the novel, I found that this story is not the case.

The original novel has a high conception, and discusses the problem of American class solidification in a very profound way. The red movie avoids the heavy and far from the light, removes the representation of the society in the novel, and focuses entirely on the inner growth of the protagonist's original family, and the performance in this aspect is not very good. It does not show how the protagonist shows family influence. You are not showing the psychological transformation of other people.

I don't know what happened to director Ron Howard. The movies in recent years have not been as good as he used to be, but even so, I still think that 29% on Rotten Tomatoes is really low. After all, the acting skills of the two resentful women are still very good.

Hopefully the next movie of course will get back on track. Amy turned out to win the Oscar

[4 and a half stars] I haven't read the original, so I don't know if it's appropriate to say this. This is a very upright and positive energy work (or American dream?), in which you can see the quagmire, decadence and degeneration of life, but at the same time You can also strongly feel the hesitation, tenacity, and improvement of ordinary people in the face of these adversities, and the positivity and emotion conveyed by the glow fills your heart. Grandma Glenn, hurry up and win an Oscar with this, the role is really good. Hans Zimmer, the soundtrack of Lonely God is great!

Ron Howard is best at storytelling that's unhurried, but one that keeps the viewer entertained. The three roles of the actors, old, middle and young, are all very good. The echoes of the two timelines and the final closing line are all great. 4.5 stars.
