Makino Tombstone (US)

It has been two and a half years since I watched the French version, and I have experienced a lot in these two years. Graduation, work, love, breakup, etc., etc., life is getting more and more mediocre, and the time to watch movies is gradually decreasing. I insist on writing these things to show my future self, and tell myself not to forget any stage in my life. Speaking of the movie itself, in my opinion, the remake is not much inferior to the original. It can be said that each has its own merits. The comedy is more intense, but I always feel that which part is less realistic. The American version still has some obvious traces of Hollywood processing. In this regard, it is definitely no better than the reserved and reserved French.

Very mediocre American drama level remake. All my thoughts are spent on writing jokes and sloppy mouths (which is exactly the same as the super-ying jokes in recent years). The most interesting question of culture and upbringing in the original (and of course tied to the question of class and race) is reduced to a question of class, yes, race is okay (it's too much to talk to a black man about "what it's like to be a black man" It's funny...), no culture means no culture, this really can't be helped...

Very interesting remake, both male protagonists have dramas. Sometimes you don't have to think so much about changing the world, do your favorite things, and miracles will happen.

The Upside quotes

  • Maggie: [to Dell] I'll show you how to get Mr. Lacasse ready for the day.

Philip Lacasse: [to Dell] If you're not too busy.

Dell Scott: No, me and Mags got this. Get to show her my sensitive side. It's best viewed unclothed and from behind. By Candlelight.

  • Dell Scott: [to Maggie] I'm not putting a straw in that man's drink and I'm not unpacking his luggage.
