TRUE / 2018

Watching Violet Evergarden again. This animation is produced by Kyoto Animation and is known as the "Bible of Humanity". In 2018, there were many voices that were expected, but there were mixed reviews in China. Those comments aside, I think it's a heart-wrenching, but also very tender and beautiful story, and I love it. If my future child asks me to tell him a story, I will smile and tell him the story slowly.

The story begins with the heroine Violet (Violet) lying in a hospital bed. She has just returned from the battlefield of the last battle, losing her arms and replacing them with a pair of mechanical hands. She was an orphan since she was a child, and she was sent into the army as a child and became an emotionless "killing weapon". She had never been treated tenderly, never taken her through joy, sadness, grievance, until she met her Major Gilbert.

Violet was originally given to the Major as a "weapon", and the Major took her in his arms the first time he saw her. Later, the major took her to read and read, named her "Violet", and told her gently:

"You are no longer a weapon, and in the future you will grow into a person as beautiful as a violet".

At that time, Violet didn't understand the major's feelings, nor did she know her own feelings for the major. She always loyally waited for the major's orders and followed closely behind the major. The major wanted to give her a gift, and she asked the major, "What should I choose?"; the major was full of pity for her, but also annoyed that Violet couldn't understand his emotions. When he got mad at her for this, she still kept repeating Ask again and again: "What am I doing badly? Does the Young Master not need me?"

In the last war, Major and Violet rushed into the enemy's fortress, only to be trapped in the fortress, and Major's eyes were injured. Violet lost two arms to protect the injured Major. In the enemy's fortress, Major gave Violet the last order, wishing her to live freely, and left the words that haunt Violet forever:

"From the bottom of my heart, I love you."

Violet didn't understand what this sentence meant at all. Before the Major could tell her, the fortress was severely damaged. The Major pushed Violet out at the critical moment, and he was crushed under the rubble.

After Violet woke up, she desperately asked about the Major's situation, but the Major's whereabouts remained unknown. Occasionally, Violet heard the client say "I love you" when the client was looking for a puppet ghostwriter. She remembered the last sentence left by the major, so she resolutely decided to become a puppet (that is, a professional ghostwriter), I want to find out what "love" is through this job - this is the first time that Violet has a strong desire to do something.

Under the care and help of the president of the postal company (friend of the Major) and colleagues, Violet received professional training, did a lot of ghostwriting work, and experienced many stories, from a clumsy straight girl of steel to a Local famous doll. She helped the young princess to express her love to the person she liked bravely, helped the playwright who lost her beloved to complete the stage play for her daughter first, and helped the dying mother leave a birthday letter for her young daughter for the next 50 years... … along the way, Violet has witnessed many stories and accompanied many people through important times. She found that many people lost their loved ones in the war, which reminded her that she had killed many people on the battlefield; whenever people expressed their love and longing for their loved ones, she would think of what the Major said to her in the ruins That "I love you". She finally understood "love", and began to feel more and more strongly the yearning for the major and the remorse for the countless murders she had committed in the past. She has been waiting for the Major to come back and wants to tell him: Major, I finally understand the phrase "I love you" you said.

However, what she was waiting for was the news of the Major's death.

No one told her what to do anymore, no one was by her side like that anymore. She dreamed that the major fell in a pool of blood, but sneered at her: "It's just you, your blood-stained hands, you still write warm letters to people?" She woke up from the nightmare, and she cried out, wanting to end her own life. Life, forever escape the torment of longing and regret. At this moment, she received a job request by name asking her to ghostwrite, and also received the first letter of her life sent to her by a colleague. Colleagues are very worried about her and hope she can cheer up soon. Walking on the street, she found that the people she had helped ghostwriters had all gotten out of the predicament at that time: the princess and her beloved lived happily together, the playwright's stage play was on show... She saw the violet on the side of the road, Thinking of what the Major had for her, suddenly, she seemed to see a wider world. She turned around and took a firm step, trying to take this yearning and self-blame, and by helping others convey unspeakable emotions, she responded to the warmth given by the Major, and made atonement for her past actions.

Violet lowered her head and asked the president: "Is it really good to make someone like me a doll? Is it really good for me to live?" There were tears of pity in the president's eyes: "What I did in the past It can't be erased, but the beautiful things you do as a puppet and the feelings you convey will not disappear."

The Chief, who was once full of resentment and disgust for her, was the brother of the Major, who jokingly called her "Gilbert's dog", thinking that she was a tool that only obeyed others' orders. At the end of the story, the chief was finally moved by Violet's affection for the major and her kindness, and showed tenderness to her. The chief ordered her to take the major's share and live forever, but she bowed politely and said, "I will live forever, but from today, I no longer need orders."

In the process of watching it, I felt the most distressing part was that when Violet finally understood what love was, and understood the Major's feelings for her and his own feelings for the Major, the person he loved never returned. Here comes; when she finally has a fresh perception of life and can touch the most real emotions of human beings, she has to face overwhelming guilt and regret for the past. At the same time, I am also amazed at the magic of "love" between people. The seeds the Major had planted in Violet’s heart, the people he met in Violet—the president, teachers, colleagues and friends, as well as the beautiful emotions in those stories—under the watering of these, Violet found With the strength sprouting from my heart and the courage to face everything, I decided to carry these and continue to live.

Violet followed the love the Major gave her, and tried to live so that she could continue to pass on this emotion. I have a deeper understanding: love is not born, but grows quietly in one relationship after another. The ability to love is the greatest achievement in a person's life.

The picture is very beautiful, and many places pay tribute to Monet's works; the story is very detailed, and many details are very intriguing. As far as the story is concerned, to a certain extent, it seems that this show is called "human bible" is not an exaggeration. What is more sacred than the emotion and "love" between people?

Hmm... In the TV version, the major lived perfectly in Violet's heart, and the words of the major became Violet's signpost. In the theatrical version, it was another story :)

The impression of the first episode: Even if it is just a story of a weapon girl learning the great love of human beings, the preliminaries + picture bonus, the last sentence "Heart か ら 爱 し て る" is still very touching. Finished chasing. The story is really average, but it feels good to follow.
