The film directed by Zhang Yimou only likes "If you have something to say". It's just that this movie is probably led by Jiang Wen. To emphasize, I am talking about "dominant." Because I have read some articles, it is said that many directors who work with Jiang Wen complain that Jiang Wen will dominate the shooting scene, as if he is the real director. The biggest characteristic of Zhang Yimou is that he is good at speculation, just like an interpretation of his name: planning for the sake of art. Can art be done just by planning? Moreover, Zhang Yimou's art is really difficult to define. What he is best at is creating that kind of big and empty visual spectacle. His most important masterpiece is obviously not one of his films, but the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games several years ago. Zhang Yimou's early selection of stories was very speculative. The literary and artistic films he shot at that time were very topical, which could satisfy the curiosity of the audience in both the East and the West. In the mid to late 1990s, Zhang Yimou's squareness was a bit messy. It felt like he was being led by the nose by capital and being swept up and down by the business tide. For Zhang Yimou's new film "The Great Wall", I believe that many more serious film critics will have a headache after watching it. Because if you look at it purely from the point of view of film art, there is hardly anything worthy of comment in this movie. "The Great Wall" written by a group of foreign screenwriters "The level of this story is the same as the bedtime stories that many parents make up for three-year-old children. A great director who has been honored as a "national teacher" after decades of work is still brave enough to try to shoot new types of movies, and will still make movies like Einstein's first small bench. Too inspirational, really too inspirational. So young people must have confidence, and they must dare to think and do.
