Thinking about the rule of law

A good art film should do two things: the first is to make an attempt to innovate the film language, or at least an attempt; the second is to express the director's thinking, which can be philosophical thinking, thinking about life, thinking about the film itself, and so on. This film has undoubtedly achieved the ultimate in both aspects, and is a well-deserved master. And when I watched it, what impressed me the most was the feeling of anxiety, depression, and unease brought about by the first half of the footage, so I focused more on the reasons for this feeling. I think there are two main reasons for this feeling, one is the sensory reason, and the other is the logical reason. 1. Sensory reasons The sensory reasons are mainly the feeling that the audio-visual language of the movie brings to the audience, which most directly causes this anxiety. ①Filter movies have entered the era of color movies, and the lens is mainly based on realism, and few directors add filters to the lens. The director of the film added two filters to the lens. The first gives the shot a yellowish tinge, making each frame look like a weathered oil painting, with a run-down and decadent aesthetic. The second makes an irregular black outline appear on the edge of the lens, which directly creates a sense of oppression visually. And to a certain extent, the coordination of the composition is broken, which intensifies this feeling. ② Many shots of composition films are not shot directly, but are shot through (across) mirrors, car windows, door curtains, rear mirrors, stair handrails, armpits, prison doors, etc. The composition is fragmented by objects, further adding to the visual discomfort, which creates a sense of unease. ③Lighting In ordinary movies, it is usually full brightness or full darkness. A few will make the actor's face half-light or half-dark, or the eyes cannot be seen clearly, so that the audience can not see the actor's expression clearly and increase the sense of mystery. . However, the lighting in this film is basically irregular. Many times the characters' foreheads, chins or half of their faces (not the left or right faces) are missing, and this lighting also makes the camera even more depressing. ④The most obvious image is the appearance of the dead cat and the dead mouse, which not only causes strong visual stimulation, but also implies the breath of death. There are also clown heads, stones, and ropes that appear and stay for a few seconds. The director closes up these objects to attract the audience's attention and make them wonder if a murder will happen in the next second, increasing the tension. ⑤ The music is said to be the soundtrack of the film by the director's royal musician. There are two pieces of music that are meticulously moving, reinforcing that feeling of depression from an aural point of view. 2. Logical reasons Most ordinary movies are linear narratives. This is actually the logic of drama, which is in line with the laws of human understanding, but it is what all art movies have always opposed. Movies should have their own narrative logic. ①The narrative in the first half of the editing has three lines, namely, the main line, the driver line, and the lawyer line. The three lines are independent of each other, forming a huge parallel montage. But this independence caused the audience to not understand their relationship with each other and the motives of the characters to do things, which logically created a sense of incomprehension. ②Lines The lines in the first half of the film are deliberately set free and sloppy, which makes people confused, resulting in a serious lack of information, which further increases the sense of unease caused by not understanding the plot. In this feeling of anxiety and unease, the confluence of three lines ushered in. In the cafe, the lawyer and his girlfriend describe the excitement of becoming a lawyer, while the male protagonist holds a rope in his hand and is preparing to kill. There is a strong contrast between the two. Just like life, some people are as proud as lawyers and feel that the future is infinite, and some people are desperate like male protagonists, and even embark on the road of revenge on society. And most, like drivers outside a cafe, are in the middle, scrambling to make ends meet. The lawyer's girlfriend said to the lawyer: When you pass the threshold of life, that feeling of getting everything will come back. There will be many people who will love you in the future, just as I love you now. But not everyone can pass the hurdles of life like a lawyer, just like the male protagonist can't bear the self-blame brought by the death of his sister, and eventually self-destruct. That rope was his last struggle, but in the end it was doomed. When the male protagonist killed the driver, he did not kill him with one blow. The whole murder process was divided into three parts. In this way, the cruelty of the killing process can be highlighted, and it is also the director who is giving the male host a chance to turn his prodigal son back. During the murder process, there are constantly scenes of horses, cyclists, trains, etc., in addition to the still moving, reflecting the cruelty of the murder process, it also shows that such cases are actually happening around us, but there is no direct In our interests, we instinctively ignore them and do not take them to heart. Then the process of the trial was directly omitted by the director, which is just right in detail, and also reflects that under the existing judicial system, the fate of the male protagonist is already doomed, and what awaits him must be the death penalty. Then the lawyer went to visit the male protagonist and asked about his past and the reason for the murder. During this period, prison guards, wardens, prosecutors, and executioners prepared for the death penalty. On the one hand, the anxiety of this questioning process is highlighted. In the lawyer's words, "Thirty minutes is not enough, I hope it can be carried out.

Someone wants me not to watch this kind of movie, but how can I get rid of this kind of movie as I am. So someone's words can only be ignored. . After reading it, it took a few days to recover from the blues. Especially the neurotic sadness of this movie, the behaviors shown are so tangled and terrifying. One more piece of music from Krzysztof's movie, it made my heart pound.

The film is said to have resulted in a five-year moratorium on executions in Poland. The Ten Commandments series made the whole country "rediscover the basic values destroyed by communist theory". Why do fundamental values have to be maintained by external forces all the time?
