A hundred minutes of simple and rude joy

I watched the 2018 version of "Predator" in advance at the Toronto Film Festival, and I went to the public screenings in the IMAX hall. Before the opening, the audience was extremely enthusiastic, and laughed frequently when they watched it. But after watching it, the audience was silent for a long time. When I walked out of the theater, a little brother behind me said what everyone said: I don't know what to say.

The screening director Shane Black and screenwriter Fred Dekker both went. The two have been working together for a long time. When Fred Dekker directed The Monster Squad, he asked Black to help him rewrite the script. This time Black in turn gave him the revision of the script for "Predator".

What's interesting is that the script of the movie had been leaked before, and it was rumored that after the film was finished, it was required to be changed drastically by the senior management of Fox, and the filming was made several times. I don’t know if Fred Dekker contributed the final version of the four signed screenwriters. In any case, the final product can be said to be completely unqualified at the story level, and it is not difficult to see the harm that Hu Gai's blind changes did to the film.

If you have seen the official trailers released before, please be prepared, the feature film may not be what you expected. Especially the second version of the trailer, I watched the full movie and went back to watch it again. It's really a teaser.

By the way, a few days ago, the media reported that Shane Black had an actor friend who was a registered sexual assault on Steven Wilder Striegel. He was taken to this movie to play a small role (previously "Iron Man 3" and " This person is also included in "Tear Detective"). In this "Predator", Striegel plays a passerby who slaps the heroine (satisfaction), and the heroine Olivia Munn discovered the person's history on the eve of the movie and notified Foss. Foss quickly made a decision and deleted all the roles of this man. Black also apologized afterwards, explaining that the friend was "in an unfortunate situation", but records showed that the actor was trying to have a relationship with a 14-year-old girl and was caught. Black has brought such an individual into several crews with underage actors, and has not informed the others, which really makes me doubt his judgment as a human being.

Speaking of the movie itself, I cannot introduce the plot without spoilers, so this part will be discussed later with Tucao. In terms of the overall plot alone, the direction is very questionable. It makes people wonder whether Foss/Black/Dekker (no matter who makes this decision) treats the audience as fools. The level of absurdity is comparable to that in "Batman vs. Superman." Luther designed a logo for each Chaoying Group's collection of works. And the editing is very messy, some places are obviously modified later, which is very inconsistent. Some characters disappeared for a long time, and after a while they didn't know where they came from.

The shaping of several main characters also failed. Most of the time, they were unpopular, and the settings were inconsistent. The plug-in switches depended on the plot. The male protagonist is a young military killer who can learn about alien technology in one second. What's the age? The cliché of autistic children = genius is useless. The life of autistic children is already very difficult, okay? And, there are only two female characters here, both of which are poorly written-one is like a fine patient, and the other is a flat marginal character.

The positioning of the Predator series itself is horror/horror. I was most impressed when I watched Schwarzenegger's version with my dad when I was young. I was so scared that I covered my eyes but couldn't help but want to see it. I was also frightened by the sudden appearance of the body. Jump. This one...there is blood, all kinds of severed headshots, and no horror. The sound effects have worked hard to create an atmosphere, but the deterrence of the so-called ultimate predator is really not reflected, and the "ultimate" of the ultimate fighter is not too obvious. The last battle was even more scribbled and lacked tension.

Although there are so many complaints, the process of watching it is indeed very happy. Shane Black really did not say in terms of black comedy, from Kiss Kiss Bang Bang to "Tear-resistant Detective", the filming is very interesting. Even "Iron Man 3", which I personally hate very much, has a lot of easy and funny elements. But having said that, he is good at portraying seemingly improper but actually kind-hearted protagonists who are a bit "goofy" and a bit mournful, such as the role of RDJ in KKBB, such as the role of Commander Gao in "Resistance" (Commander High The section that seems to be handsomely smashed into the glass is really the finishing touch). Black tried to fit Iron Man into this model, but Tony Stark had been alive for decades. Fans had already had steelyards in their hearts, and they couldn't be tough.

Treating the same predator who is not his own original, Black seems to be in the same predicament. It stands to reason that he participated in the script rewriting of the first film in 1987 and also played a small role. He should be familiar with this series. It’s a pity that the outstanding characters in this movie are the supporting roles that have a relatively small role in promoting the plot, especially the members of the "Commando". The role of Trevante Rhodes is probably the most flesh and blood, and the Key is purely with its own funny skills. . Sterling K Brown's character...speaking of being stupid and not stupid, saying that it's bad and not bad enough, it's very ambiguous.

All in all, if you put it in a better way, this movie is like happy water from a fat house—you know it’s harmful to drink it, but it’s still very happy when you drink it.

The following are all spoilers.

------------------------------

At the beginning of the movie, there is an unclear space chasing car. If not chasing the spacecraft, a spacecraft fell somewhere on the earth under the pressure of the chasing soldiers. Our male protagonist McKenna just led the team to perform the assassination mission here. People were lying in the forest, disaster came from the sky, and the teammates died one by one. Although the male lead hadn't seen the murderer yet, he picked up the mask and hand armor that had fallen from the spaceship. The male protagonist who has never been in contact with aliens confidently played with an unknown weapon. When the male protagonist fiddled with his hand armor, I thought of the previous ones. There was a nuclear explosive device in the predator’s hand armor. If it detonates, it is God's work. But it didn't. He pulled out the small steel ball in charge of the invisibility function (don't ask how he knew it, and don't ask how the predator's armor design is so silly).

The hero, an alien weapon genius

The self-taught male protagonist stunned the seriously injured running predator, sent his hand armor and mask to his (ex-wife's) home, and swallowed the invisible steel ball when the mysterious organization came to catch him. I'm not afraid of any uneatable ingredients. And why swallow it? Isn't it good to run away invisibly? Will the invisible function still work after swallowing it? I guess the screenwriter didn't think so much.

The running predator was pulled back for research by a mysterious organization. This organization has been studying these alien visitors since the Dutch generation, but after decades of research, it has not yet correctly understood the lethality of this species. A group of chickens have no hands. Zhili's science house does not even have protective measures, and directly touches people's house with bare hands. Just like landing on a strange planet and picking up a spacesuit helmet in "The Opposite Sex: Contract", it's a dead operation.

Who gave you the courage

The hostess is an alien biologist. She was just invited to observe the captive. The sterile suit has not been put on (I don’t know what sterile gown is worn when I touch it with bare hands). The captive inside has slaughtered the entire laboratory and fled. Got out. The hostess let herself go because of this ugly and terrifying alien, and realized that she must have the protagonist's halo, so she took a narcotic gun and rushed out to chase her. However, she didn't know how to operate the gun, and her legs and feet were not working well, so she numb herself after a while.

Coincidentally, the captured male protagonist happened to be in a nearby escort vehicle with a few other soldiers who committed the crime. As soon as there was an accident outside, he hijacked the car and ran away and saved the female protagonist by the way.

The son of the hero over there received the alien equipment sent by the hero, and after opening it, he started to tinker. The mask of the predator, like Google glasses, has messages in it. Probably this race is too confident in its own combat effectiveness. There are no security measures at all. It will automatically play when the mask is put on. Please, the phone of the earthling has to scan the face and press the fingerprint to open it. If you have a father, you must have a son. The self-learning of alien science and technology can be inherited. A primary school student can easily decipher the technology of advanced alien civilization. Then he took the masks and hand armors, which were obviously not toys, as Halloween costumes, and went out for candy while wearing them.

Tiger father without dogs

The child met a bad boy from the school, and the bad boy bullied him. As a result, he touched the defensive function of the iron-blooded armor and directly blasted the house. Although we don't know exactly how this defense is triggered, even if we encounter him, it is still based on his heart rate and other physical signs as the standard. If someone just accidentally bumps into him and gets bombed, that would be wrong. Maybe the screenwriter didn't think so much. Moreover, such a small child accidentally killed someone, and there is no fluctuation in his heart. I don't seem to be autistic, but anti-social.

The male lead juggled with everyone for a while, and it was considered to be a team. Realizing that the equipment he sent home would cause trouble, he hurried back to find his son. At this time, the people from the mysterious organization also arrived, as did the running predator and the large (ultimate) predator who came to catch him. Everyone is chasing (killing) the male protagonist, father and son, and the large predator also chases (kills) the running predator. After some melee, the mysterious organization sent a wave of heads. The large predator killed the running predator. Of course, the male lead and others managed to escape, and abducted a predator of the large predator. I don't know how such an advanced civilization can have such a stupid dog. Earth dogs wouldn't follow their prey like this.

The large predator is...big...

It turns out that this large-sized predator is a guinea pig from their race. They use themselves and other species to breed more "advanced" fighters. According to the roadside news agency, the first predator to run was synthesized from the DNA of Dutch (Schwarzenegger's character in the first part) of their race. How physique would be like that). I don't know too much where the Dutch genes are reflected. This guy who kills when he sees people is not much different from the previous ones. I don't know where to follow his father. Maybe this is the reason why the feature film did not mention Dutch.

The protagonist and his party did not live long before they were found by the mysterious organization. It turns out that they saw the male protagonist's son easily deciphering the alien information, and felt that they were idiots, and they simply kidnapped the children and asked him to lead the way to the spaceship of the running predator. Because this group of researchers who can't even solve the map, don't know how to speculate that the one who ran away is going to give them something-because he has human genes, sympathizes with humans, and wants to help humans. The people of the race who came after wanted to stop him and get back what he brought. And that thing is on the spaceship.

Isn't your organization really trying to defraud funds?

The male lead and a group of people chased him to save his son. Stupid human beings are certainly not his opponents. He detonated the spaceship in order to prevent the things he brought from running away from falling into the hands of the earthlings; however, he kindly left the time for humans to escape in advance, so as to ensure that The male protagonist will not be killed. Big Iron and Blood waited for them to run away before chasing them, because people's setting was a pervert who liked to hunt. After sacrificing a few teammates, the male lead was successfully held by iron blood, but iron blood indicated that you are not the person I want. I want your son, the gifted child with autism. He is a more advanced creature, it is us. The future of the race. To be honest, I don't know what the iron blood x autism will be. I feel a little bit inexplicably. If you are at war and suddenly can’t take care of yourself because of the noise like the son of the hero, wouldn’t it be downgraded?

The so-called halo of the protagonist is just being choked by the bloodthirsty madman and just thrown aside, but your teammates will be torn apart without hesitation.

The iron-blooded genius children boarded the spaceship, and the hero and teammates boarded the spaceship. As soon as he flew high in the sky, he opened the protective cover of the spacecraft. One teammate was cut in half by the protective cover, and the other was separated from the cover. Of course, the male protagonist was safe and sound and was just covered in the shield. The teammate outside the hood, in order to help the hero save his son, resolutely jumped into the spacecraft's propeller, causing the spacecraft to lose power. But here comes the question-why is the thruster exposed outside the protective cover? Don’t the thrusters need to be invisible? Isn’t that easy to be attacked? Probably the screenwriter didn't think so much.

In short, the iron and blood saw that the plane was about to crash, and the male protagonist crawled in. He didn't know what to do, closed the protective cover, and then fought hand-to-hand with the male protagonist in the falling aircraft. Strangely speaking, there were so many people in the mysterious organization with weapons before, and a team of male leaders, who couldn't beat them together. Every time a 1v1 male leader seemed to be evenly matched. It can only be understood that the combat effectiveness of other people is negative, which seriously drags down the male lead.

But then again, isn't the predator the stronger the enemy is, the more he will kill it for loot? This large iron and blood has left the hero's life several times, and if he doesn't despise his fighting ability, then he is in love with him.

The most fascinating part of this part is not the fighting power of the male lead or the predator, but the fighting power of the female lead. At the beginning, even the anesthesia gun could shoot her heroine, but she suddenly turned on in the second half of the movie. The male protagonist swallowed the invisible steel ball that he hid before giving it to his son. As a result, the genius child, who was regarded as a high human by the predator, was useless at all and threw it directly underground. The female protagonist picked it up, immediately used it skillfully, and suddenly had the skills of a black widow, successfully attacking the predator when the male protagonist was at a disadvantage. Can easily tear the large iron blood of an ordinary predator, under the attack of the hero, the heroine and the genius children, it died within a few strokes.

From female Sheldon to Black Widow, no one knows what happened

The story is not over here. Gifted children are not only the future of predators, but also the future of mankind. The mysterious organization blatantly hired child labor and asked him to help decode the things brought by the running away. Wait, didn't the spacecraft explode? Where did things come from? The explanation of the plot is that when the spacecraft was activated to explode (the predator gave them time to escape), the escape pod with gifts popped out automatically. So, why do you want to detonate the spacecraft? I wonder if your own spacecraft has this function?

Besides, after the escape pod, which looks like a person lying down, is opened, it is not actually a person ("Alien" is too much); it is a small arm armor that will automatically unfold into a complete set of anti-iron armor after wearing it. After putting it on, it looks like a predator, even with braids. This kind of battle equipment design that doesn't distinguish between us and the enemy always feels a bit subtle. Moreover, since the running predator really came to earth to give mankind a gift, why didn’t I make it clear at the beginning, but saw who killed whom? He killed dozens of people before and after, and then stayed, one, one ,armor. Is there much confidence that humans can copy mass production! This motive doesn't make sense at all, it's entirely due to the fact that halfway through the filming, he changed his mind and broke off.

In the end, it was obvious that I wanted to lead to a sequel, and it was rumored to be linked with Alien. Of course, after Disney's acquisition, whether Fox can continue to shoot as planned is still unknown, especially if the reputation of this movie is not good, the box office may be worrying. If there is the next one, in order to return, it can be said that the armor sent to the earth is to improve the challenge and fun of the predator family to hunt. If Foss really shoots like this, please give me money.

Jacob Tremblay continued to wear the "helmet" to do big things, and Olivia Munn was paralyzed. The only interesting thing is the second madman team composed of Hollywood old fritters and uncles, which seems to be a replica of "Like. Suicide Squad", and the character settings are lovable. But really ugly and dark and stupid and funny.

Traeger: I think you know what's on the ship. The ultimate predator.
