I took it as a true story of America, a story
of Addict and her family. When she was 16, her car crashed into a river when she was high on drugs. She survived, while her little brother, who was in the driver's seat, drowned. Since then, she has been free from drug addiction and the silent blame and anger of her family.
She came out of the drug rehab and sat abruptly in the car of her father and stepmother to her sister's wedding. In the car, she kept smoking, perhaps as a substitute for drugs, or as a way to resolve the anxiety and confusion in her heart. She had a wordless conversation with her father, which was more like a self-answering question. Facing the whole family, facing the family who lost their younger brother because of her own fault, she didn't know how to accept the complicated gaze of the family who tried to forget the pain and forbear the accusation against her. Every item in the home can arouse the family's heartache for his younger brother. But all the suffering was temporarily suppressed in this wedding that was supposed to be blessed with joy. People tacitly stuff their grief into boxes and drop them to the bottom of the box, trying to immerse themselves in joy.
