In fact, it can be more profound

I haven't read the original book, but I was aware of the exploratory nature of this subject almost as soon as I saw the general introduction to the film.
A family relationship full of tragedies and contradictions, but at the same time permeated with the deep love among family members. Who is more important, which is more important, whether the sacrifice is worth it, should desperate efforts be worth it, etc. When all the contradictions are so abruptly but harmoniously combined, it can cause countless thoughts in itself.
This kind of story is my favorite all the time. I believe that everyone must love each other and need each other. However, love and needs alone are often not the whole life, because there are too many trivial details in life. Therefore, this story can be more intriguing.
The mother's strong position persisted regardless, even, paranoid to the point that only her sister existed in her eyes; the elder sister suffered but stubbornly lived and worked hard - for the family's expectations, but more because the mother was tyrannical the mother’s love; the younger sister endured years of major surgery and the harassment of being a physical container for the elder sister to survive, and still loves this family deeply; the younger brother has become the most easily overlooked member of this strange family On the surface, he is neither needed nor needed by others, but in fact he is also troubled by dyslexia. There is also the father, the father who has become an independent family breadwinner because of his sister's illness and has always been his wife's strongest backing. When the focus of his wife's life has completely shifted to the seriously ill eldest daughter, his mood as a husband , I don't know how to mix flavors?
Unfortunately, in the movie, these psychological conflicts that can be explored more deeply are only touched, so they are only on the surface of tenderness, but they cannot bring deeper sighs and emotions.
But still a good movie. Perhaps the portrayal of the younger sister and younger brother is left on the surface, and perhaps the ending is still quite bright - the reason why the younger sister sued the mother is only to satisfy the elder sister's hope that she no longer wants to live in the world, and there is no confusion and struggle of her own as a human being. This kind of treatment may be a lot simpler, but it also avoids some of the embarrassment of human nature itself, and positions the tone of the film in a warmer and more amiable position.
If the most commendable part of this movie is the love affair of my sister. Under such circumstances and conditions, under the common persistence and curiosity about life, the relationship with the male patient was short-lived but exceptionally brilliant. So it finally came to the end of the movie - my sister was finally born without love, and the family reached the maximum understanding of her decision.
A very harmonious and rational ending, but not shocking. So, I think, I will still choose to watch the original.

Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: When I was a kid, my mother told me that I was a little piece of blue sky that came into this world because she and Dad loved me so much. It was only later that I realized that it wasn't exactly true. Most babies are coincidences. I mean, up in space you've got all these souls flying around looking for bodies to live in. Then, down here on Earth, two people have sex or whatever, and bam, coincidence. Sure, you hear all these stories about how everyone plans these perfect families. But the truth is that most babies are products of drunken evenings and lack of birth control. They're accidents. Only people who have trouble making babies actually plan for them.

Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: I, on the other hand, am not a coincidence. I was engineered. Born for a particular reason. A scientist hooked up my mother's eggs and my father's sperm to make a specific combination of genes. He did it to save my sister's life. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if Kate had been healthy. I'd probably still be up in heaven or wherever, waiting to be attached to a body down here on Earth. But coincidence or not, I'm here.

  • Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: I want to sue my parents for the right to my own body.

Campbell Alexander: Would you repeat that, please?

Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: I want to sue my parents for the right to my own body. My sister has leukemia. They're trying to force me to give her my body parts.

Campbell Alexander: You're supposed to give her a kidney?

Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: She's been in renal failure for months now.

Campbell Alexander: Well, no one can force you to donate if you don't want to, can they?

Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: They think they can. I'm under 18, they're my legal guardians.

Campbell Alexander: They can't do that.

Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: Well, I want you to tell them, because they've been doing it to me my whole life. I wouldn't even be alive if Kate wasn't sick. I'm a designer baby. I was made in a dish to be spare parts for Kate.
