The hat has always been unclear about the metaphors~~ I think the director may not really know exactly what it is. A thing that cannot be discarded, above the "head"! love? Friendship? ...probably not. Maybe you really don't know what you want to add to the props.
The behavior about TOM is confusing but seems understandable. I don't think he planned or planned all of that. He is more likely to follow the trend ~~ impulsive to say that he has an affair with VERNA. All his actions are based on impulse, and then he finds a way to solve the desperate situation that he has forced himself into. Very touching, reminds me of a friend.
This film can be seen to be very low cost, mostly dialogue. Several scenes of gunfights and murders are surprisingly good.
This film deliberately uses a lot of shallow focus shots to stand out the characters from the dark background~~It may be for different environmental scenes.
It feels like the Coen brothers' films tend to use a series of short takes to create rhythm, rather than placing a strong emphasis on scheduling and movement in one shot. A sense of space and narrative is formed through assembly.
